MIP changebox information

So wandering the swapmeet this weekend, happened upon a neon yellow MIP changebox...but no diff gear.

Did it use the standard Stealth gear (like RPM) or a MIP specific unit (I did see a picture of a NIP one, it had a diff gear in there...so not too confident about the purchase now).

the mip change box used a larger mip diff and idler gear, with a stock associated topshaft, to gain the 2.61 ratio.

the idlers are fairly easy to find. they pop up on the bay quite often. i can't say that i've ever seen a diff gear for sale, though. but i'd bet if you posted something in the wanted forum, someone here has one they don't need.

JK, the MIP diff gears are the same tooth count as the current B4/T4 diff gears, just narrower. I'm sure someone here has one they can measure (my stuff is at my parents house). IIRC, it's not a whole lot, just needs a light skim on either side.

I will try the diff gear trick...

Did they ever come in neon yellow? If it was dyed, they did an excellent job!

Pic doesn't work, but I believe it only came in yellow, so it's probably dyed.
