I just bought this sucker off ebay and I'm going to do some crazy mods to it. It's not going to be retro or period accurate but it's going to be bitch'n!! More pics to come soon as the project moves forward.

Cool car. I remember building a Bigwig for a customer back in the day. I thought the rack & pinion steering was pretty funky. It also went like snot with the Technigold motor. The only thing I didn't care for was how plastastic it was.
Looking forward to your resto.

I agree about the plastic. I'm going to make a bunch of Carbon Fiber parts for this sucker. I already have a brand new Bigwig that is box stock so this guy is to have a little fun.

Remember I mentioned another guy on kijiji had a used one for sale? I was thinking of buying it, to join you in some BigWig modding action. I was going to offer him $60 for it before I found out he is trying to get $300 for it.
Ouch. (although, $60 was probably very wishful thinking on my part)

I'll keep you posted if I find another one for a reasonable deal. I'm even thinking about just getting a new Boomerang since many of the parts will be hand made anyway.

Bigwig craze going on right now? 3 Bigwig threads in the front page.

I have a decent looking one that just needs the shocks installed. Might put up a pic of it here if the OP doesn't mind.. Jeff, are you from TO too?
Tim, that guy selling the Bigwig, he doesn't know what he's doing. He sold 2 NIB Tamiyas and a newly built T-Optima for 1980s prices. But he's asking twice the price on his used rigs. He's probably considering the old school electronics in his price, but those are worthless now, and he doesn't want to sell them as rollers.

Ha! I called him about the Optimas a week or 2 ago... he wanted $300 for one of them, and $500 for the other. I almost choked when I heard the $500 price. He kept saying they had the top of the line electronics in them. Again, it's 1980's electronics. They haven't been top of the line for quite some time now.

Ahh that must be the same guy I wrote to. I believe he was in Ontario, and I noticed some of you are also from there (I'm out west in Alberta). His reply to my email:
"one with red hot trick chassis,LED flash light body, speed control and remote, ready to run.$500
one with JP chassis,speed control,futaba magnum remote.$350"
Needless to say, I didn't bother replying to his reply.

Yuppers, I'm from Mississauga. I can't believe how many members on here are from TO.

I offered him what I thought was fair and he didn't reply. I phoned him the next day and he said he wanted like $1400 for the 4 cars because of the high end electronics. As you know they are still sitting idle on kijiji.
