Do not know if this has been posted before. I had been looking at these for some time - for my bike. but thought some of you might like these:

I bought a system from eastwood and used it a few times. I accidentally mixed the black and gray powder together, now I have a dark gray mix.

there is alot of prep involved, and I used a dedicated junk oven.

one important step, especially with aluminum, is to cook the part and then let it cool prior to coating. will burn off impurities and moisture.

I want one of these. You could use a good size toaster oven for the size of our rc car parts.

Picked one of these up to give a try. I have a 220 hook up in my garage so i will get a used oven then i can do rc car parts and my quad parts for me and friends.

I imagine you could make some $$ powder coating things for people into RC. I'm eager to hear how it works out for ya...

look into power coating 6061 T6 aluminum cautions.....I just found out some info where it's bad to get the metal heated above 325 degrees or so, because it ages it too far, and can weaken it.....so lower temp powders would be needed.....just FYI on aluminum stuff.....I never knew that until the other day.....

I wonder if you can heat it gradually, and instead of going to 325 degrees, heat it at a lower temp. for a longer period of time ???

yeah, that's why I mentioned the lower temperature powders that are available. most need a temp of around 400 for 15 to 20 minutes.

It is pretty interesting though. But now I am afraid to splurge and possibly risk damaging my rather pricy cycling parts But I do hope someone is able to give it a try though and give us some good feedbask - I currently can not.

I would be careful when using a toaster oven. Make sure to use a thermometer to make sure the temp is correct. Just like cookies that are too close to the edge or the heating elements, the powder will also burn.

When we used a smaller house oven, parts that were closer to the heating coils would sometimes burn. But now that we have a large oven with digital temp control, the problem is gone.

And never, ever use a gas oven.

I bought a craftsman one a few years back and never used it. My buddy owns a powder coating shop and don't think I will ever need the craftsman one. Trade for some parts?
