Re: re-released Avante? or something new?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the downfall of the Avante the fact that it was way over engineered? I know the original one is highly valued among collectors and commands big money. I'm sure it will make a lot of them mad if its nearly identical to the original like the other re-releases have been besides the Holiday buggy.

Re: re-released Avante? or something new?
They've already done the 'fake' Avante based on a DF03. It wasn't a bad car either, still not quite competition ready but not far off.

I don't know if my memory is playing tricks on me, but I thought they re-released the original a few years back?
I'm in two minds about this. On one hand you have the collectors who have paid a fortune for the original so stick it on a shelf never to see a track again because of it's rarity and then there's others who would love to buy one to run.
In between there's those who can finish restoring an original as the parts become available again.

Re: re-released Avante? or something new?
i actually quite dislike re releases...theres nothing better than restoring an old car, or finally getting your hands on that rare one youve been after for months / years.
i doubt it would be the avante, maybe the avante 2001....but I certainly did love the over engineered style of the original, would be cost prohibitive for them to release a kit of that complexity these days seeing as it wouldnt be competitive on the track

Re: re-released Avante? or something new?
I'm really torn - Realizing that a re-re is probably the only way I'll get one of these I think it's a cool deal. At the same time - it's not vintage, so really not my cup of tea. I only have one re-re, a Hotshot that I bought from a member here for a great price. It's only cool to me because I can set it side by side with my restored vintage car and ponder the differences.

Re: re-released Avante? or something new?
I am on the fence about the re-re's. Yes it hurts the collector's value of the originals, but don't you think the value of them is a little inflated anyway? The Holiday Buggy re-re is an insult to the avid collector, but those who get them seem to have fun with em. (which is the point anyway?) I bought a Buggy Champ last year. It's hard to beat the feeling of removing the shrink from the box and opening up all of the blister packs and actually assembling the buggy. Something I never got to experience when I had my NIB Rough Rider. As long as they make this Avante something close to what originally came out, I will probably pick one up. It would be about the only chance I'd get to actually open and assemble this chassis.

From Tamiya Blog:

Tentative price including tax 52800 yen. The main chassis is equipped with a CPR unit was assumed. Mechanical response to the current FRP double deck, not made. Changes, including increased strength carbon material. Riyadanpasute carbon material can be. Same package size and design models to reprint the original box. Parts will be reproduced in blister. Tamiya original decals with changes in detail. The front knuckle machined aluminum parts and change the intensity increased while pursuing the same shape. Specifications can change the oil o-ring to be a lower cap ring that can be easily replaced. For unspecified motor is still attached. Be able to reproduce the image of the original gold color. Number of turns, motor can, end bell, colored stickers are to be considered.

Re: re-released Avante? or something new?
$650 list price for Riyadanpasute carbon material? What?

The preceding contained opinions, beliefs and thoughts that all may not agree with. No offense was intended at any point. Carry on.
