thank you, does it say anything on the back? what i was looking for is with the odd moving on the screw thing, one washer under nut on top? like stock steering? anything different there?

All the "odd moving" was why none of us used that set-up back in the day.
HotTrick made a lot of cool-looking stuff, but at least half if it wasn't very well thought out and a POS.

I am not familiar with this setup, but the one in the photo looks fairly conventional. What is the 'moving screw' you refer to?

the insert is threaded, when the car steered, it would move up and down the screw

i have this setup and hate the threaded design i am debating drilling out the threads and having the look without the problems. but for now im still just debating since its a more expencive piece (at least on ebay ive seen them for $30-40) anyone have any suggestions???

Sell it, and get something else with ball bearings.
I think many of us had one rattling around in our pitboxes, back in the day, and the only use I found for mine was as a fishing weight.

page was blank on the back. Sorry. I use this kit on one of my rides, but am not as concerned as the rest of you about the float.

Maybe go to the hardware store and take the pieces with you and try to either find a thin sleeve to go over the screw or a shoulder screw. With either one you will probably have to drill out the hole in the piece to make it slightly larger.

If this is a runner, the Hot Trick unit works just fine. It only moves up and down less than 1/64" anyway.

vintage88, check the traxxas steering setup I used on this build....second page, near the middle. very inexpensive and comparable to the pricey stuff. someone also built that setup and was able to find tubing the right size so no drilling was necessary, just cut to length.

It seemed that was their marketing ploy back in the day, "i love the look of the kit," and if your intention is for it to be used on a shelfer I suppose no harm no foul. For a runner there were just so many better options. Good luck either way.
