Removing chrome *only* from rim channels

I kept meaning to ask this but was always forgetting...
A lot of nylon wheels are chromed, but CA glue doesn't stick very well to the chrome plating. Does anyone have tips for removing chrome *only* from the bead channels of the wheels, so that tires will adhere properly? I'm sure it could be done carefully with a Q-tip & acetone--is there an easier way?

Ugh...I said
easier.

I've removed chrome plating from plastic arm-rest bases for my 1:1 Charger and it's a major PITA.

HI!... I have a sand blasting cabinet in my garage. I have it filled with fine glass bead. Works great on all kinds of RC plastic and aluminum. I can take the chrome off the channels you mentioned in about 5 minutes for 4 rims.

....
Nut the wheel onto and old axle and the put that into the end of a drill chuck. Pull the trigger on the drill and run scr8p's sandpaper along the bead.

Automotive brake parts cleaner eats chrome. I stripped a set of AE TQ wheels that were peeling.
