I have an old (1989) Airtronics radio. I never see any comments about Airtronics. Does anyone have any feedback on Airtronics equipment? I am wondering if I should continue with what I have or if I should start over with new equiment. Any recommendations?

I believe Airtronics was made by Sanyo. I had several multi-channel Airtronics radios back in the 80's. All of them were AM. Never a problem from any of them.

does the futaba still work? those older radios are tanks. they last

airtronic's is very good gear, many championships have been with the brand.

Airtronics was made by Sanwa, not Sanyo. But similar name.

Sanyo did the motor dyno thingies... right?

Sanyo, Sanwa, Shinwa, same difference

Airtronics is just a rebadger of sanwa gear in the US. Exact same products, different labels.


The Machine A/1 were the XL2P (T?)
The Turbo was the VL2P
The Mzechs/superMzechs were the caliber/caliber3ps
(not sure about the exzes... I only know my pistol classics )
And from them on I believe the M8/M11 kept the same names

Yeah, yeah, Sanwa! I had a multi-channel unit of theirs(Airtronics) for airplanes back in the day that was a nice radio. Always thought their pistol grip car controllers were nicely done.

We still have one of these Jerzi, but it is in the light beige color (tan colored like sand) along with the Tan colored Futaba receiver and servos. This was long before they went to the darker colors then settling on the black.

They worked great way back then!

we had both beige & black units... they controlled our Assoc RC12e & RC300.

the Black was a 3CH... 3rd channel is a non-centering trim tab directly below the throttle lever


Parma sold a pistol mod consisting of their slotcar handcontroller
(minus the wirewound rheostat... which you'd use as your MSC in 1/12)
and pushrod linkage to operate the side throttle lever.
Had to drill 3 holes in the back plate to mount it.

I have 2 just like this from when I was a kid, but a gold case. 1 still works great, the other needs some parts to get it back to working condition.
