6 Gear trans ?

HI!... O.k I just freshly rebuilt mt 1st 6 gear trans for my Graphite RC10. I very carefully deburred all the steel gears. I'm running new (black) idler gears. I'm running full ball bearings including replacing the felt rings with sealed ball bearings. Now is it something I did, or is this 6 gear trans a "One wheel peel" set-up? If I spin the input shaft on one outdrive turns. I took it all apart again and because one gear is part of the input shaft and the other gear floats on the input shaft, the passengers side outdrive will never get power it seems to me. Is this correct???? The trans is extremely smooth. Just as smooth as my Stealth trans are.
Thanks :
Neal.

if you don't have the spur gear on and the diff tightened, it will do that.

we use to fill these transmissions with valve grinding compound and run a pack through them wide open on the bench. then clean them out with break clean. then they were super smooth. it took and polished and debured the gears.

HI!... Well I hand deburred all the gears by hand, and then ran them through a 8000rpm brass wire wheel. Very smooth.
Has anyone ever takin a set of outdrives and ground off the outdrive section just leaving a steel idler gear, and then using it as a steel idler gear? Just thought it would bullitproof the 6 gear trans some more. All steel internals.

I've seen the all metal tranny before...it sounds like a good option, put a little gear jelly in there and leave it alone for a while.

a friend of mine has a all metal 6 gear.. im not impressed with the idea..the way they have that trans/idler gear with 1 bearing assemble i feel the plastic would work best..i always say new black idlers, bearings on the outdrives then you have a great car..a new 48 pitch spur gear is always nice too

I just posted an answer to a similar question on another thread. I had some steel idlers from MIP (I think), and they were a pain to wear in. You had to chuck the outdrive in a drill, and use automotive valve grinding compound (it came in a little green can) to "seat" the gears. It was ok, for a while, but they would get odd rough spots, and you'd have to do it again. I eventually trashed them.
