"ae" logo question?

I have a question for some of you here on the site. I'm making some parts out of fiberglass transmission braces and battery braces and would like to put the "ae" logo in them. Does anyone know if this is a copy right item, the old logo. Does anyone know someone who would know that I can contact at associated about this?
Here is a sample of what I'm looking to do.

I recreated the logo, but I think it's at home on my backup drive/server. Send me an e-mail to
[email protected] and I'll send you the file as an EPS.

It's more of can I sell parts with the old logo "ae", here on this site or Ebay? Is the logo copy righted still after they changes it to the AE in a circle.
I might need that logo mine is a little off yet.
Thanks

Ahhh, yeah, that's different. You won't be able to sell parts with the AE logo on it, no. They will definitely have a problem with that, I'm sure.

check into copyright laws. i believe as long is it is like 10% different you should be good. now an exact copy of the ae logo the answer would be no.

I would like to get in touch with someone at Asscoiated and talk about making low numbers of 10-100 as a tribute and only for the RC10.
Thanks for the help.

If you currently owned a company would you want other people selling products with your name on them?
Though like was said if you change the logo a little maybe you can get away with it. I'm not sure if I would even make them aware of it. Sometimes its better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission.

Current copyright laws dictate that if you created it you own it weather its registered or not. You only need register it if you plan on fighting for it. Therefore, it never expires, but can of course be sold. IF you do this (exact copy), it will be copyright infringement, but I would doubt that anyone would care or fight for it. And if you were to modify it slightly, then it would be yours, not theirs. -Jeff

I doubt your going to hear what you want from AE. I wouldn't even call them. They're a corparation and your question has a standard answer, NO.
However, in the quantities you mention...it probally won't be an issue they would persue.
Of course, if the brace or hold down was free, as in you aren't making money off the product, I belive the rules are in your favor. I'm not a lawyer...
Maybe you can give them as a gift and take a "shipping charge" as a gift in paypal? IDK just thinking outloud.
Frankly, I'd be more worried about the IRS than AE

Why do you want to sell bootleg parts in the first place?

I was just thinking about something that sort of pertains to this. These companies don't care that people are reproducing their products and are also making money off of them? Is it because they're discontinued and it isn't worth it to go after the people?
Just for the record I don't mean anything against anybody who reproduces parts specifically. Its just something I'm curious about.

Could you also send the AE EPS file to
[email protected] ? If you have any other EPS RC logo files you will be willing to share I would also like them.
Thanks,
Josh
