How to run modern rubber on your JRX series car

We started this discussion in another thread, but no reason to continue to hijack that one...

Here are the stock JRX2 axles on top of the XXT "conversion" axles for the GTX/NXT (and LXT).

Here is the stock Losi axles next to an AE alloy axle:

Here are AE axles installed, then the GT wide AE axles installed:

I personally use the stock Losi front axles, with a spacer from the rear end inside to use B4 wheels. I did the same on my TCP (it uses Losi axles up front too).

Does the barrel of the associated axle fit in the Losi steering block snugly? I thought I read on the Kinwald RC10 build that the Associated block had to be drilled slightly to accept the Losi axle. That would mean that the Losi knuckle would be too big for the Associated axles. BUT, I also thought I remembered Bearickster or Red Scampi or someone saying they had used the B3 axle in a Losi block. Just what I remember reading.... would be curious to know which works/or both?

It wasnt me 8) I only put Losi parts on RC10's not the other way around.  you cant fix PERFECTION!!!

but I think their the same size, I have bought Losi's with the RC10 axles. you can tell the Losi they always have the 3/16 axle nut the rc10's have the small nuts. :P

I cannot remember WHO did it. I've gone through every page of the Kyosho Forum, now am working Losi.. After you've read SOOO much, it runs together. You just remember seeing stuff...not where you saw it. :D

Okay, it was Kenooze, using Losi's on the BK World's winning replica RC10.

I think it a XX buggy with the B3 parts on the nose, I didnt find it either last night.

No, the AE axle is smaller and floats in the Losi carrier. Nothing a little shrink wrap cant fix.

Shrink Wrap :!: Awesome idea.. I actually think I have some other applications I could use that for. Brilliant...

You should see my "pin cushion" mod to run Losi slider axles on my Traxxas TCP...

Is it a consensus that .125 spacers are needed to run B4 rears on the JRX series rear end?

I just run Losi xx wheels all the way around on my cars. it was easy just drill out the lower pin to 1/8 on the xx carriers bolt them on. I use RPM truck front arms and Trinity xx wide axles to make up the differens in with.

Yeah, well, that would work pretty great if we all had spare RPM JRXT front arms laying around. I think that would be the optimal solution, but I'm looking for solutions that *decrease* dependency on exotic out of production parts, not make it worse. I've got enough problems keeping "common" 20 y/o parts on hand, let alone rare ones!

Those RC10GT wide front axles look pretty great. The itty bitty nuts on the rc10 guys have always bugged me a little bit. I've always been a fan of big nuts all round.

Sorry. It was just too much for me to resist.

LOSA1022

I think that this is the part number for the XXT front axles for the NXT/GTX ... Stormer Hobbies lists them as for the Speed T/Desert Truck, and then underneath the diagram states "also for NXT and GTX trucks".

JK, is that what it says on the label for NXT/GTX axles?

Then I can keep my big nuts.

By the way, bearrickster, I have a couple sets of those XX wheels because I like them so much and they are a classic Losi styling cue. I already have a full front carrier / spindle / axle set up from an XX assembled and ready to go. I'm holding on to them because some day I'll score some wide front arms and then I'll have them as an option too.

Thanks for posting the pics and comments, guys, I really appreciate it.

Yes, they are LOSA1022, but I really think those would we way too wide.

Converting the car over to run XX/XXX wheels is another option. If it didnt need the rare RPM front arms it would be a very viable option. Is there a replacement arm out there? Like the Dynotech/Klein arms?

I run B4 wheels, this seems the easiest and cheapest to me. B4 wheels of all styles are a dime a dozen and all you need is a small spacer on the stock axle to move it out a bit.

I dont know I see the RPM arms often enough on EBay. the nice thing is they dont brake! so one set will last for ever. but if I see them I will buy 90% of them. but I have passed on more than a few sets their out their, not as hard to find as you might think. I wish Losi would have left the front hubs alone. I am still on the fence weather I like the design or not. it has good and bad points. the only good point is you dont fuss with the bearrings anymore. they stay alot cleaner, I havent had to do anything to them since I built this car 3 years ago. I do love the look of the wheels. I dont like the solid ones at all.
