Vintage 2.0 tires on clay?

Anybody found a vintage 2.0 tire that works half way decent on a new high bite clay surface? Maybe soak them in a softener for a long time?

just grab anyone of them and grind down the spikes or whatever with a dremel sand drum. sauce them up with simple green. use foams. you're good to go. yes, i've tried this. tires from then are stiff as hell, compared to the soft/er tires of today. you'll obivously have to setup the suspension for the new slippery tires. i've seen different results from different tires. schumachers seemed to do the trick. they had some trick compounds for even back then.

Did you just cut down a 2.2 foam?

yeah i did that. i used some glue under trinity that was made for fat boy bk, just made for foams. i think mip also made some foams for those type of tires. but all i remember was that they were too soft. that's why i went to cutting my own foams. if you go that route, go easy on the glue. dab it on. your whole tire wheel will be off balance. which you should also do once you're done gluing the tire and wheel together.
