Guys,

I know you are the experts in original RC10s so I wanted your opinion on this. I'm restoring my old RC10(my first RC car back in 1988) and converting it into a rally car with the DS conversion kit I bought from Reg (thanks Reg). I've completely dissassembled the car and noticed that the tub bows up. When I hold down the rear of the chassis so its flush with the table, the front is lifted, evenly, about 2-3mm. Is this normal, or is this do to use?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Ben

Some of the bowing may have been a front impact-or stress from the heat treating cycle, I have had some chassis out of the kit be bowed, some not a bit. As you assemble the car and install the front nose brace tubes and rear end, you will see a big difference in the chassis straightness and if it is still bowed a bit, add shims to the inside of the nose brace tubes until it is straight with a straight edge under the chassis, likewise in the rear, shims between the motor plate and the motor guard portion of the chassis-

Thanks for the advice Reg.

What about two carbon fiber braces from front to rear. I'm thinking the tube pick up point back to the rear bulk head pick up point. What do you think? The bowing seems to be from the about 2/3rd from the back. So I'm thinking of using the carbon fiber braces to push the two pick points away from one another to "flatten" the chassis. What do you think?

In the end, is it worth worrying about? I'm not going to be competitively racing.

Thanks again,

Ben

Thanks guys,

I took some pre-dissassembly pics this morning. I'll have to post them soon.
