These may not be the final wheels and tires I run, depending on what I can find cheap online. Hopefully some slicks or foams.

Thanks! I think it will look pretty cool, and it might be a little more forgiving to drive with the battery down the center of the chassis. There will be a big sprinter/supermodified wing on top of a buggy body, covering a custom chassis and shock towers.

are you goung to use a ds front end?? very cool project, id like to see one in action.. i went to do this a long time ago but with a buggy front end (short rc10 front arm is about the size of a ds arm).. i decided not to complete the project cause it left me with a bunch of extra parts.. i made 2 complete cars instead..

Looks like a fun build!

bodies that I know of were MRP, Bolink, and DRC. They used to run them at the snowbirds back in the day.

Any recommendations for tires? I'd like something scale, preferably rubber slicks. The tires from the Tamiya F104 look like they might work, but may be a little small.

Basically the left side will be stock DS, and the right side with be 10T. I'll make special shock towers to fit .56" shocks on the right side.

These should work. Touring car-size wheels (but not a standard bead, have to use HPI Vintage wheels) and decent overall diameter. Rears could be wider, but everything I've found is in the same 31mm/1.3" range.

What is your ultimate goal with the car? are you trying to go for something that is very scale? or are you just building something out of spare parts?



If I were going to build one that was scale or semi scale looking and not based on a pan car, I think I would start out with truck wheels, strikers on RPM revolver wheels, or the speedy's truck foams



I also don't think I would use a tub chassis, I think I would be more inclined to make a plate chassis out of carbon or G10, and use the DS nose plate, This way it will be nice and narrow You could also go as far as to add a cage and some nerf bars out of piano wire. From there I would decide what wheelbase is going to look right and how you're going to lay out your body (you're going to have to make your own), you want the tires to look proportional, buggy tires wont look right, and the TC stuff you linked is going to be way small and narrow. I imagine you're also going to have to do custom offset shock towers so the shock angles and lenths look right, I would run .56 bodies and .35 shafts all around, and keep the shocks near vertical (this will limit your travel, but will look more correct for a super) Lastly, I think you could find a scale motor (I think parma made or makes one, or I'm sure the scale crawler guys have something).

Anyway, keep us posted, this could be a really cool project!

Not really a scaler, more just to use up some spares I have. No place to race it, but it might be fun to go to the local carpet track and turn some laps. I kind of want to emulate this;

Way ahead of you on the chassis and shock towers. I had 10T arms on a DS front end years ago, never raced the truck but it was an interesting build.

You're right, the TC tires would be too small. The Strikers I have are the perfect size, but I'd like to have slicks if possible.

Well there goes one of my ideas...lol. Not a supermodified but using different style arms. Guess it's a NY thing.

A quick and dirty mockup, didnt want to fiddle with the front at this late hour. The wing was a manilla folder and is held together with double-sided scotch tape, sitting on top of an Apple USB wall charger.

I'm thinking the chassis needs to be cut down and the body given the superdupermegaslam!

I think a sprinter nose wing would be in order as well!

We have a few supers running with 10th scale sprints at my local track. I have a losi xxx buggy I converted to a west coast style super mod and its a blast to race.

The west coast supers own east coast cars, sorry to hijack the thread

You could use the Duratrax slicks on the rear thats what Iused on my 1930's sprint build the good thing is usually you can find them cheap on ebay but they are a discontinued item. hope this helps
