New to me RC10T ****UPDATED 1/23/12 RESTO FINISHED****

Post by dave00beer »

Hey guys,

Pretty much new around these forums, I have been registered for a little over a month now.
Basically been lurking around the site reading and looking at different threads. I stumbled across this site while researching some info on vintage Traxxas stuff. (which I own and have owned/restored/sold quite a few)

Well just earlier tonight I'm proud to say I snagged a RC10T for a GREAT price (at least I think).

I'm stoked about it, and planning on doing a full tear down/restoration to it. :D

Package deal came with the truck and a good amount of extra parts. Everything appears to be original stuff.

I may have a few questions here-there as I'm not super educated on these, Heck last Associated I had was a gold pan buggy when I was like 15 yrs old wow..showin my age...But anyhow!

For now I have these couple pics from the seller, I will update with better pics when it arrives. And will try to keep the thread updated as the resto process begins, and time allows.

Thanks and I'm lovin the site! 8)

hey welcome ! im new here too, and really dig the paint scheme on those bodies, nice and vintagy. we are kind of opposites, i have 1 traxxas, a t-max with a few nice things on it, and tons of RC10/RC10T stuff lol. goodluck with your rebuild! hang onto it, they are alot of fun to race.

Hey Dave,
Good to see you made it over to here and welcome to the forum. Theres a few others you might recognize around here you'll see here too from the traxxas forums  . Glad to see you ended up with an RC10T to do some tinkering with. Looks to be a great platform to start with and you got the narrow fronts with it so something you'll be happy with.
Todd

p.s. Got your battery bar sitting here on the desk yet  .

OH man, hope I'm not opening any wounds here with the "TRX" word....

I've been feeling a little cooped up over there anyhow and decided to check out the other side too. :)

I'll keep the dark side talk in the proper "TRX" category here.

But definitely cool seeing some familiar faces here. 8)

Reggie,
 quite the opposite. The k's and l's are purely parts car donators...shocks mostly or things that were 'thrown in' with good associated cars because they couldn't sell them . I build mostly associated and the occasional t car  .
Todd

Dave,
you're good. One of the few other sections I wander around in is that TRX section

Hey guys, got the truck yesterday!

Gave everything a quick look over, and I gotta say I’m lovin this thing! She’s in really good shape and looks all complete. Including a few years of dust .
The one body is in SUPER shape no cracks that I seen, the other (original I guess) body is in overall good shape, however it did suffer a little bit of damage in its life, on the right hand rear shock tower area. Not really that bad…It’s been “repaired” before and I will do my best with some Goo to reinforce it.

Looks to have a few RPM rod ends, bearings at least at all four corners. Chassis looks straight as an arrow and underside is worn but no real gouges at all.

It came with a bunch of extra parts also, the spare body, complete set of a-arms (ones on the truck seem to be beefier) extra springs, Frt-Rear shock struts (ones on the truck appear to be thicker), a set of dog bones, misc. pinions, castor blocks. NIB FT-body mounts, NIB Rear hub carriers, NIB rear body mounts.

Besides the wheels/tires that are on it, I also got 2 sets of rear “losi” pins one set looks new. And also a set of front 7871 narrows.

3 spare motors East coast SS mod, Associated off-road stock, and Kyosho mega. Also a Novak Tempest ESC. In the truck are a Novak Duster ESC, and a “Air Supply” motor?? (No not the 80’s little love song band….. ) At least that’s what it looks to say on the end-ball is air supply??

Even came with all the paper work, Manual, Parts ID/Exploded views, and the parts catalog with all part #’s and prices. 8)

I’m kinda curious, or under-educated I guess about the shocks? They appear to be all black aluminum? I have seen the grayish color and of course the gold before? And the shock bodies are smooth to the cap (no hex) Normal? Different brand?

I’m really happy with the purchase, and IMO I got a hell of a deal….I gave the guy $60 shipped for it all!
Well that’s about it for now….Got a bunch of pics for you guys to check out, so I’ll stop runnin my mouth.

I will keep the thread updated as this thing goes into tear down mode and as time allows. I have a few other “ongoing” projects.

Dave

Couple quick questions?

First off what the heck is this blueish triangle piece on the back side of the front tower? Is it anything that goes with the truck or no? (cuz I have two of them?)

Also does anyone know what these are? One has a set screw? Might just be something extra in with the parts?
