One of the benefits of working for Losi

So one of my best friends Todd Hodge, who is the Category manager for TLR asked me to help check the build bags for the new 22. So I got to build one for the first time. Being that I mainly focus on the Losi side, it was fun to build a new kit. The buggy went together really good and has some pretty cool features.....the bad part, is that once I built it I had to give it up to one of our team drivers. I think Todd felt bad, so he let me have the "drop test" car that we beat to hell. He gave me parts to rebuild it :D Although some parts are not production, it's very very close. Of course i had to dye the wheels black as I thought they would look good against my new scheme.
I'll be the first to admit that I haven't been the biggest fan or our 2wd buggies in the past, for some reason, even with Gil Jr's help, my cars always pushed off the track. I don't know if it was my driving style but man did I struggle. I hate to say it but there was nothing like my old team car when I was sponsored by Associated 17 years ago (ugh I aged myself lol).
Although I was very rusty, I raced it this past weekend. I didn't have the proper settings being that it was the drop test car but I did get it tuned in by the guys during the day and all I can say is wow  . The car has amazing "carving" like steering and unreal traction. I need to "numb" it out a little for me as my reaction time isn't like it used to be but I feel that those you get one are really going to enjoy it. It's very balanced, I only have 5 packs on it but i can't wait to hit the track again.
Just thought I'd share

Love the buggy, if there was a place to race it around here I would own 1.

I have to say (this coming from a hardcore Team Associated guy) the TLR 22 is one mean looking machine! Nice paint scheme you have there, nice car too ;)!

That looks awesome man, Very nice. I love the small body sliver that slides thorough the front tower.
Nice paint, I think I would probable move out of the way, NOT. I would probable give you a little bump with my Team Car to see how well can the Losi take it.

AWESOME looking ride, congrats.

Losi really started the molded chassis and integrated parts trend for all the current production buggies and trucks today- They have now hit the reset button 8)

Hey Rich - Damn you are a tease man!!

I am "eagerly" (no - DESPERATELY;)) Awaiting my team car here. I picked up sponsorship/joined the Australian Losi Team here in Aus (joined in December - just before the car was announced - hows that for timing!!). I really am pumped about the car - there is ONE in Australia and I had the pleasure of giving it a thorough going over a couple of weekends ago at the J-Concepts clash at St Ives. The 22 really is going to re-ignite the 2wd class around the world. The car appears unreasonably stable - yet able to make savage turns whist maintaining grip and corner speed - quite surreal to watch. And boy oh boy - the thing just jumps so FLAT.......freakish to watch. Those big bore shocks seem to be really helping with the car - as it doesnt seem to bottom out on some of our more savage jumps like someothers. The vidoes of the car at various tracks in the US show this clearly freakish handling.

Really impressed with the steering system and front bulkhead design as well. This thing is gonna be a tank as far as durability is concerned.

So excitied to be back on the Losi team after many years away.

Cheers

Darryn Johnson
