After 10 great years, Heither and I are losing our best friend. Shelby has cancer and we are told that he won't last more than 12 weeks (prob less). We will likely have to make the decision that no one wants to make sooner than later, as his cancer is pretty far along. We have known for a couple of weeks and he is still OK for the most part, just a bit slow and losing more and more weight every day. So every day we have is a blessing, we have been spoiling him as much as we can especially on the weekends, letting him do his favorite thing in the world, swimming at one the best lakes we have run across in our travels.

Sorry to hear that. It does suck to deciede when the right time is. I had a lab with cancer a few years ago. Never an easy choice. My other one seemed to be missing his friend so what did I do? Had a weak moment and got a new puppy. Potty training and anti-chew seminars all over again.

I feel for you mate. I had to make that decision last October. Still look for her at the gate when i get home

Sorry to hear that Jay. I know you are close he has been in a lot of your pictures for the 3 or so years I have been hanging around. I lost my best friend Bear 8 years ago. (Thats were the name came from) its hard its been a long time and I still think about him daily. just enjoy the time you have with him and just know you to made each others life better.

Man sorry jay from a animal lover and dog owner it hurts just to think about it. Stay positive there's another puppy out there waiting for great family I'm sure you would a great fit. Sorry about the bad news

Sorry to hear that Jay, had to hold a paw on that fateful day twice now, hurts like hell, but best for them in the end, hope you don't wait too long to find another, eases the pain a little, memories stay forever.

sorry to hear this man. we lost our miniature schnauzer 2 days after christmas. my wife got him for me 13 years ago right after we got together. the loss of a family pet/friend is never easy.

i feel your pain jay. i have always had goldens. in the past two years both of mine passed, one from old age and one we had to put down due to cancer @ age 7.
worst feeling ever.

Thanks everybody, we (both Heither and I) appreciate it. I am going to take tomorrow off from work and we are going to the lake. It's supposed to be the warmer day of the year so far.

He was born three days after we got married, so we have always considered him our wedding present to one another. That makes it hard to, as we will always be reminded of him on our aniversary.
