My Turbo Optima ready for the vintage festival in Australia.

This has been a slow project to get finished. The Turbo Optima was my first proper race car that i raced with very little success .Was out classed in every way against a full field of Mini Mustangs. To be honest the buggy was heavy and no where near as efficient as the single belt drive 2 speed PB's racing in mod for 6min on 1200 mah cells. BUT was my first race buggy and had some good times with it still.

This one started life as a well used Optima pro. I fully rebuilt it with a belt drive conversion, Hard final pinion (Turbo under guard and Option House Shocks that i got in a trade with Coelacanth, Thanks) New rear sway bar set. Front not fitted. New Marwan Turbo body and decals. Motor guard. Quantum speedie, Ready 19t Mod motor. 2.2 wheels and race rubber.Alloy Front Bulk head brace. It so quite to run till full throttle than has a slight whine. Sounds great. Pretty quick too. Mmmm Li Po's.

For the vintage festival we are running a class for Pipe frame buggies like the Bull Dog, Zerda, Javelin and etc. So if this class is going ahead i will be swapping out my turbo body for my Javelin frame if not will give this a run some time over the 2 day festival. I won't be racing it as i have 6 other classes im running.

That car looks great, Mark! Glad to help out with the shocks & skid-plate. I also dig your personalized "Mad Racer" decal on the rear. Nice touch!

Now I just need another belt drive conversion for a T. Optima off-roader I'm planning next...may have some interesting trade items in the near future. :)

Very nice! The Turbo Optima has to be one of my favorite box-art paint jobs.

Hi , I'm from Adelaide (although working in Darin until next week), started getting interested in the hobby again literally in the last few days. Where and when is this vintage festival?

Thanks!

Mark, would it be possible to weigh your Turbo Optima chassis, without the body or battery, on a digital scale? It would be interesting to compare weights. :)

The Vintage festival will be at Castle hill Sydney on the Queens B' Day weekend.

Look on Rctech.net than international racing. Australia. Vintage racing in N.S.W you will find it all there.

Marc will do soon for you.

Not to hijack your thread Mark - thought I might post up a link to the festival: http://www.rctech.net/forum/australian-racing/482438-vintage-racing-nsw-2011-a.html

Sweet rides like Marks are par for the course at these events.

Nice ride as always Mark.

Cheers

Thanks Darryn.

Don't know how to do links yet LOL;

To be Honest im having trouble geting this to work on our basic track. I really do need to spend more time on set up. The problem i have with it is the rear snaps out around corners. Really bad off power. The MID motor design really makes this a lot better i say.

Have to play with springs, oil, and tires more.
