Hi all

living overseas, sourcing standard hardware is a bit of a PITA... and when restoring cars I don't want to waste days for a missing screw that I don't have in my assortment! So turnkey screw sets are the solution What other "manufacturers" than rcscrews do you guys know of?

there are a few standard sizes that you can use throughout the whole car, so you can probably narrow down the total number of unique screws you need.

i typically buy screws in packs of 50-100 from places like mcmaster-carr. where you are, there has to be some equivalent type of component supplier that you can do the same from. because I hate rust, I pretty much buy stainless hardware. buying in bulk really reduces the overall cost for simple hardware.

the only screws I can't get from mcmaster are the green aluminum 8-32 screws.

if you can browse mcmaster, and have trouble finding someone in europe that can offer competitive prices, maybe you can figure out what you want and I can help facilitate an order for you.

I found out the hard way with RCScrewz. The socket cap screws are good, the replacements for the gold screws are the wrong countersink completely, they also dont supply enough nuts, so thats the last time i order from them.

I've bought a load of gold screws from the bay packs of 16 and they delivered from the states quickly and cheaply. That reminds me i need some more!

Re bulk buying, yes, I agree it theoretically is the best solution.... but it takes time, and time is money, that's why I'm ready to pay someone to gather it all for me as a service. And at least I know the thing is complete and I'm not missing that one screw that's preventing me from moving forward with my restoration!

So rcscrews is the only one in the end?

I don't think the quality is being questioned. The issue is some of the screws they supply aren't completely correct. I've had a few issues with them in the past but it wouldn't stop me from buying from them again.

Thanks - that falls into the "quality issue" bucket to me ... I don't want a screw set that forces me to buy additional screws on top

Well this post got me thinking and i have now got lists of the required screw sizes and quantities( including plain nuts, locknuts, washers etc) for the team car and rc10t, however i do not have a 6 gear manual and i'm not taking mine to bits to measure the screws just yet! So if someone wants to step up with the sizes please do, i cant imagine there are many differences really apart from the transmission fixings.
Bear with me and i'll list what i've got so far over the next few days.
I'm just trying to find a old post from oople where i'm sure someone had found an outlet for the green screws in the U.K. If i can find it i'll be able to start seeing how much complete kits would be.
Please bear with me as i'm really busy at the moment so it may take till after the weekend to get something sorted.
I got a bit annoyed having to buy more screws to complete a build as said above and would love to source a proper screw kit

Funny - I just did a list of all hardware referenced in the worlds manual barring the odd aluminium SHC for wheels / trans case and the still available 6280 8-32's, the rest is rather standard... I'll check modelfixings to figure out how much a couple of sets would amount to...

Found the 100 deg screws as well but it stainless steel not the green, very reasonably priced as well.

Has anyone tried these? Good price. Shame they only have blue.

Yes. I asked them if they would do a different colored set for me, and they said no. However, they ship extremely quick. I've had no issues, and continue to use them. Also, try Fastenal. You can mix and match, and for most screws, you can buy as little as 1 screw from them.....

I will check out fastenal. Truth be told I am lazy and want some one else to build the kit for me.

Me too. I just get the listing of what is needed from the manual and go from there....
