lag in a manual speed control

So messing around with my old msc and started having an issue. basically I hit the throttle and the car drives off. I let go of the throttle and the car keeps on driving for a good 5 seconds. the steering servo also seems to wig out a bit when this happens. I can't seem to replicate the issue with bench testing so I think it has something to do with the load on the system. What do you guys think?

Could be a few things, is the antenna touching the chassis or have a break in it? Is the receiver batt low? Could be a range issue or too much gap inn the wiperarm and resistor causing arcing-

Usually, this means a cracked resistor...at least from my memory from wayyyyy back. I would check those first and make sure the wiper arm can move freely.

The car never gets farther than 10 feet away. The receiver is new so I don't think the antenna is a problem. fresh batteries in the transmitter.
Hmmm I think it may just be time to give up on the manual controller...

May I suggest a Novak T4? They are all the rage right now... Its about 1/2 the cost of your car, but its soo much more reliable. And with the new Tempfets, yout dont have to solder in a fuse anymore!!

I noticed something else today while taking a look at the problem again.
When I unplug the steering servo the throttle seems just fine. plug it back in and it all goes haywire.
