UK VONATs?

I have noticed a marked increase in European RC10talk members and wondered if it was worth gauging interest in a UK VONATs.

Some of my thoughts:-

A central UK location, I'm guessing that the most common location of our European members is the UK (a southern UK location would be fine for me, I don’t mind a road trip)
Limited classes (maybe just 4wd and/or 2wd modified) depending on interest.
Maybe we could hijack a few heats at a local club meet (making the organisation easy for us whilst supporting the local club a little).

Any thoughts / interest?

I'm up for the trip!!!! I have always wanted to spend more time in the UK!! ( Guiness is so different there!) :P Anyway I think this should work out well there, you guys really seem to have been racing the vintage buggies for alot longer than we have been here and all the "clubs" seem very supportive as well

I'm about to build my first RC10 runner, and would love to give it a whirl at an event like this. I'd definately make a point of attending! :P

I would definitely like to attend but being in the north east I don't think I'm going to be much use in the organisation, we could really do with someone in the mid to south of the country to pick the batten up and run with this

Hi everyone 8)

Some of you may know me, and the rest of you dont

I have done a couple of vintage races at Hinckley over the past couple of years. The club is friendly and there is a great atmosphere.

http://www.hinckleyrccc.co.uk/

Its a great club, the grass is kept very well (its a sportsfield)

A few simple rules, Cut off date was 1996, silver can kit motor or mardave g2. 2s lipo or 6 cell nimh. Modern escs radio gear etc are fine as is modern rubber.

I hope to be able to do a few meetings this year as well.

Hoping to get over there at some point this year Andy. Be good to do some racing with another familiar face. What do you race when you're there?

It`s pretty easy going, and we chop and change thru the heats

I have raced my Cougar 1.5, Cat XLS, Yokomo Hot Dog. Not used my Pro Cat, Shotgun, or my Losi`s yet. As I keep going back to the Cougar 1.5, as once I get in "the zone" with it I can drive it pretty well for an over 40

Hi igbandy, is your club at the Hinckley near Mallory Park?

Hinckley this one:

http://www.hinckleyrccc.co.uk/ - the track is perfect for vintage cars, there's no nasty surprises to break them and it's a nice venue.

I'd be up for some kind of big UK Vonats meet.... wherever it is in the country! 8) Maybe its the sort of thing a club like Kidderminster or Robin hood Raceway could be approached to run (I think RC10talk member) Smokin owns the latter track  I think it needs to be a national grade circuit... to attract racers from all over the UK.

I raced my Worlds Car at Hinckley's last outdoor meeting of 2010...... unfortunately I was the only vintage car racing (apart from my mate with a B3) Luckily its equipped with a 6.5 BL..... & managed 3rd in the A final

@ igbandy - is it confirmed that Hinckley will run off road this year? - the last time I raced over there (Indoor TC 13.5) Roger was saying that if there weren't enough regular volunteers that could help set up the track then it might not run??

I am hoping it will be running off road again this year. I dont go very often (work commitments). I hope it doesnt turn into a carpet only club. Me and carpet racing dont get on!.
