Hi all,

Thought I would share a couple of photo`s of 2 out of my fairly large collection of modified motors.

Not sure if alot of you are familiar with the MG range of motor`s but these where very good in their day. I have 2, one a Magnum Eliminator 12 double and the other is a Magnum 14 double. The 12 double is a bit special and I have never seen another one, it has a ceramic armature shaft instead of the usual steel shaft. In the day it was very difficult to gear this motor with 1700SC`s on anything but the smoothest off road track as it produced alot of power. I have given the comm a much needed skim this evening. Not rebuilt it yet as I am waiting for some new motor shims.

Didn't AYK make these????

I herd they were fragile and snapped at the pinion end of the shaft.

Yes they were AYK- and that is what I have heard about the shaft as well, particularly during pinion installation

No problem on the Hijack, infact sometimes it can be a great help.

The MG motor I have is an AYK can. Its good to see that you dont think that I am a lunatic. Most people do when I tell them about this motor.

As for the shaft snapping, I have always been very careful with pinion installation.

Great to see this thread. I have an MG Magnum red dot motor which I bought for my Fox bitd. I'll dig it out and post up a pic...

It runs superbly!. I recut the comm, new brushes, new bearings and it still screams.

Right stuck it back on my Shinwa, and with 7.4volts it is doing 31000rpm @3 amps ( I use an adjustable power supply which shows volts and amps pulled)
