Got this in January and I see a lot of them on the track, plus I know people on here use them. Just when I get the lipo balancer accessory to order some lipos to try, the thing stops working.

It powers up but the LCD has all blank squares on it and buttons are unresponsive. If you wait a while it'll flash up Duratrax Onyx 230 on the screen but it still won't do anything or respond to button pushes.

Craptastic, now I get to send this thing back. Anyone ever see this behavior before on an Onyx charger?

No, we sell tons of them and I have never seen any come back. However Duratrax/Tower/GP are great people to deal with and they will fix you up asap! Great little charger!

I have 2 Onyx's, a 210 and a 240 and they work fantastic.

Hopefully you just got a bad egg. I used a Onyx 240 to dual charge nimh for years and still works great. I did just buy two Dynamite Passport Ultras for my delv into lipos. Work like a charm. I like the 8 amp charge with a built in 100W power supply.

I've seen very few complaints of Duratrax chargers online, but with electronics, stuff can die at any time. Duratrax's support is very good.

I cant get mine to fully charge lipo or nimh on any setting. (custom or factory) It wont get anywhere near the capacity of the battery before it shuts down. Did this from the day I opened the box. Sending it back to Tower in the next few days.

Update: They turned it around pretty fast but I don't know what was fixed yet. Should be at my house today or tomorrow.

Edit: It came, looks like they just sent a brand new one.

I have had a 230 for about 3 years now and it works flawlessly. Sorry to hear you had problems,
