This is my thread where I'm going to post the progress of my rebuild. An Associated RC10 Gold Pan A-stamp, which is going to be modified and then set-up for 2WD racing on a brushless motor......

This is my first RC10 build, and I'll be using all of the knowledge you guys have posted within threads on this forum, so thank you!!!

The donor car;





New parts to use;







The build, starting with the strip down;



The front end looked great as it came, but will get rebuilt anyways;



Chassis is good, have sanded out the main scratches, but the inside is in great condition. May leave the inside anodised and just paint the outer;





Have a stealth box that is going to be converted to run B4 slipper etc, although my intended donor (from another parts box) already has a 48dp spur fitted;

Well guys, after amassing a huge amount of parts for this build I realise that its not really going to be an old-to-new thread, as only 2 or 3 of the original parts are actually going to get used. So, I'm going to coninue this thread with the 'Ultimate Brushless Racer' in mind and then start a new thread when I rebuild all of the original parts.

What changed the direction was my decision to use a custom carbon chassi and towers etc, from Fibrelyte. They arrived today and the quality is simply awesome;

WOW. I was going to say you had an impressive list of parts collected and then I saw the Fibre Lyte stuff.

The fiberlyte parts look amazing!! Do they still make and or stock these parts? Which nose piece are you going to use?

Some bits they have in stock, but the chassis they make to order. I'm gonna use a standard nose piece.

Yea the noseplate is available but they no longer have the drilling jig and would come undrilled, so you'd need to drill and countersink the holes. Using a stock noseplate is the easiest

Gold nose plate will look neat. Very interested to see this one through.

The fiber lite stuff looks really cool as the others have stated; how much does it weigh??? I'm really curious to know if there's any weight savings at all 'cause it looks like a bunch of fiber and glass there.....

I'm sure I read somewhere 10-20g off the Worlds chassis weight?

Indeed It's about 1 ounce lighter than my gold tub and it's allot stiffer

Thanks for the info. Looking forward to see the final results

On offering up the nose plate and motor mount to the chassis, I decided that the 'orange' just simply didn't look right. So gave them both a few coats of graphite-grey as well as a clear top coat. The nose plate had a lot of scratches and will see some abuse, so when finished I will add some carbon vinyl to it for protection. Whilst I was in the mood for spaying and with the weather being perfect for it I decided to give the chassis, that I originally intended to use, its white primer coats. The white looks so good, I may just clear coat it and leave it as it is!
