1/8 eBUGGIES, need opinions

i want to jump into the 1/8 ebuggy game.
a local track has a really nice outdoor track that they run 1/10 and 1/8 on (it's a good sized track). last year i marshalled for a few 1/8 races and was impressed.

of course the factory team rc8be is the buggy i want, but i wondered if i was over looking anything better.

do any of you run 1/8 ebuggy?
any reason not to go with associated?

I don't personally run 8th scale, but I have 2 cousins that have run e-buggy for a long time and have hadlot of different models. The RC8 is their favorite so far.

cool. i took the plunge after a coupon from omni models came in.
ft rc8be ordered.

now i need a power system, leaning towards mamba monster 2200kv, 150amp esc.
i may try the hobbywing though, the 1/10 scale stuff from them has been spot on.

i'm the opposite, i love the hw stuff, but have never tried castle.
i used to run novak everything, but have switched to hw due to many novak failures.

I don't blame you at all. I was brand loyal to Maxamps for a good while, but have had incredible luck with all the cheaper lipos. It's hard to justify an 800% price difference to me now.

holy crap this thing is built like a tank. i only got to spend a couple of hours on it last night.
bearings everywhere! i love it. if the steering is indicative of how the rest of the car is built then this is going to be the most over built thing i've ever seen.
granted it is my first 1/8, but i'm in r/c love, just like i was with my first gold pan.

Stop posting in this thread!!! You're pushing me toward the edge to order my own RC8be which I've also been lusting after since I watched some videos of the ROAR 2010 nationals.

What successfully got me to hold off was not the cost of the kit or the brushless setup, it's the damn batteries!

well i finished building it, it's awesome.
i'm ordering the bl setup today and i'll run 2 2s packs for a while before i get some 4s packs.
i use turnigy batts so a nice 4s is still under 50 bucks.

esc/motor combo finally came in from hong kong. holy moly is this thing a blast.
i was only able to run it for a few minutes last night, it was really late and i really don't want to run it on the street.

i think i'll take a long lunch today and hit up the local bmx track.

OMG! i just got back from the bmx track, holy moly this thing rocks.

i was clearing gaps that were insane, with ease.

when i got there i thought the jumps looked way too big, nope. i had a couple of crashes that would have destroyed anthing else i owned.
nothing broke. i was amazed.

8.5lbs of fury. i love it!
