I read the story about this truck and mine sure sounds similar. For 3 minutes there was nothing that could touch it then the batteries would dump. Bumps didn't exist, it just powered through them. Watching it 4 (or 6) wheel drift around the oval was insane. I remember one time in an oval race with 8-9 other trucks entering the straightaway dead last and passing the entire field before the next turn.

I built it for fun and was absolutely surprised how well it ran. With good tires and modern batteries it would be insane but there is no way I'd risk breaking it. Of all the RC vehicles I've built this is by far my favorite

What parts is the custom trans based one (AYK)? I'm also interested in the "offset" trailing arms to accomodate 10T CVD's, they look quite fragile when mounted like that, don't they?

The drive train is Yokomo Dog fighter chain the diffs and drive gears are from the an original Custom works 4WD oval racer. I ran dog fights for a long time back right after dirt was invented.......

I raced with this set up never broke a lot of parts as I remember it only killed a lot of batteries! The hinge pins are not our stock pins, this are 1/8" 4" long drill blanks cut down to the size I wanted. This is way all the deron spacers are on them, to hold the arms in place.

You can see another set of holes in the chassis where the arms were mounted for shorter dog bones.

Somewhere around 90 or 91 is when I made it, not real sure I have the RC car action mag it was in somewhere.

They are fun to drive, there was a guy locally to me, that built one like yours with two JRX trannys in it. The two motor thing was too much for me to deal with, so I just did the modified 4WD chassis with both drivers in the back. I found making it steer really easy, lighter springs in the rear set and it turned as good as a regular truck. Never oval raced mine but it would be interesting to do. It would be fun to get a few of these on a track together! Love the body on yours Doug, looking really good.

I had a few extra laying around , along with graphite and an old Dog Fighter so. This is actually the 3 Gen drive system pictured here. The first one was all Dog Fighter drive train parts.
