Got this RC12i now what had been laying since years. This will be my first rebuild/restoring since I did begin collecting cars now.
Together with the RC12i I got the original kit box and good amount of old wheels from AE, HPI, TRC, Delta and some others I haven´t seen before.
Also an old Reedy 05 motor is still in the car.

Will need some cleaning, removing of some sort of glue at radioplate and upper podplate and replacing some screws.
The old MSC seems damaged and I will remove this. Maybe an old ESC from this time will replace this.
Of course also this big homemade frontbumper has to go.

In the beginning I tought there are also some parts missing as two of the posts for the radioplate and the rear spring assembly for the rear pod.
Then after reading through a manual I realised this is one of the early RC12i cars where these parts were not used at this time.
I think this is the second batch of chassis and radioplate where the holes for the posts were introduced for an optional use.
The only missing parts are these for the friction dampener for the pod.
As difference to the original kit there are some steering rods used what look like the one from the British Gemini cars 1/12th.

For the rear axle this version uses a hollow steel axle with diff. The diff is still working pretty good but will also have a rebuild.

Nice! that's a real good starting point and you are correct about the radio plate posts.

quite a tidy 12i usually the bottom's are a lot more scratched.

I also was surprised the chassis hasn´t that much scratches. Maybe the car was run indoors most times.
I think most of you didn´t notice the rear tires are covered with something. This is just silicon seal what was used here maybe 25-30 years ago when racing on pvc flooring in sportshalls. This was before the carpet tracks were introduced.

Regarding the posts for the radioplate I think I will go with four of them. I think this looks much better.
For the radioplate I´m not sure if I can remove all of the glue what was used there for any reasons. Maybe I´m turning the radioplate upsidedown as the lower side looks much better.

One question on the white plastic parts. When cleaning what is the best way for bringing them to near new condition? Maybe just soap water or anything special?

Oxyclean, or simple green do a good job.

Someone tried an ultrasonic cleaner for this?

Yesterday I tried finding some parts here but wasn´t very succesful on spares but I got a body.
Actually I was searching for a TOJ but then got a Parma Osella, my 2nd choice body.

This was made for a RC12L but never had been run. The front bodyholes are working perfectly for the 12i and for the rear I think I will use some decals. Painting and cutout isn´t perfect but I never had an Osella before.
