Lohas Blackfoot Retro

Hey all, when getting back into RC last year, I wanted to start it off with a vintage Blackfoot. I had one as a kid and loved it. I later sold it except for the whells / tires and body, and ran them on my JG converted RC10. My recent ventures turned 1 free Blackfoot from a friend, into many (about 4). After rebuilding a few, I was left with alot of spares.

I never heard of Lohas as a kid, so seeing these pan conversion kits on Ebay caught my eye. I found a very used one, incomplete but enough parts to get going, and for cheap too! Heres where its at... I went with short Revo shocks but didnt realize how stiff they were. So for now I removed all oil to make them softer, as I research softer springs. I retro-fitted (hacked up) a spare cracked BF red chassis, and mounted it to the pan for that retro look.

I found reproduction Blackfoot / Bruiser tires on Ebay from China, sooo soft, perfect! I used short pan head woodscrews on the inside of the rims, screwed into the air holes, to grab the tires like beadlocks... works! :) Since these pics below, I added 19mm wideners which convert the hub to a 12mm hex, and CRX hex to Tamiya adapters to return the hub to fit the BF wheels.

I plan to upgrade the stock hex bones but first the internal gears. Theres got to be another vehicle out there, a modern one still in production, with a diff setup thats not too involved to use and modify to work. Anything is possible, right? :)

Its got a rebuilt Kyosho Lemans 360PT, and a Tamiya ESC for now. I restored the body, glueing areas that were cracked and damaged, sanded and painted it. I have about half the decals reproduced so far, which is why only half the truck is stickered. Thats what I do for a living. I even made head and fog light decals, based off the same year Ford lights, by vector auto tracing an image of the lamp lenses i found online.

I love this thing, and it hauls (kinda). Now with a CRP adjustable motor mount, I can run a low tooth pinion and really strip the gears! :) Check it out so far...

If you really want to go crazy with it find a Track Master belt drive conversion for it.
