So I just finished a Bosscat. It has been a long time desire of mine to aquire one of these cars again as I sold my last one many years ago. I found one across the pond a few months ago. It was pretty ratted out, but I emassed a few choice choice parts, and began a rebuild. I had some rather wild plans in store, but in the middle of the project my "real life" work has hit the skids so I ended up realizing I would have to sell. So I tamed it down, but am still happy with the result. I machined a custom rear tower (the first few pics), and added a few other mods along the way. Yes Jay I do. Having a new baby in the house (and one less income) really hurts the bank balance so I can sympathise with you there. Ive had to sell a pile of cars over the past 12 months with more yet to go. Some cars I'll miss while others I wont. At the very least it has been cool owning some of them and better to have had them and sold them then not have them at all.

I really like the shell on your Bosscat. I dont know why, but most of the Bosscat's Ive ever seen have not really appealed to me. Yours looks very 'racy'.

Really like the shell on this, clean build as well!! What screws did you use for this build, Schumacher have some pretty odd ones and I was wondering what would make a suitable alternative, metric, imperial, course fine, etc?

I use std 3mm screws in whatever length the instructions recommend. I got tired of buying them at the LHS because I would buy everything on the shelf at least once a week. SO -I have a hardware distributor nearby that sells metric hardware to the medical and hi-tech manufacturing industries in the valley here. So recently when I realized that I was going to be building allot, I ordered 100 pieces of every length available in pan head and flat head sockets -around 2000 pieces total. I think it came out to about $125 USD. That is about .06 per piece, however the shorter ones are about half, and the longer ones are about double. I wont need any screws anytime soon . -Jeff

Out of curiosity what sort of cnc equipment do you use?

I make my own towers occasionally and do it by hand with a dremmel, although the finish isn't perfect. I'd like to make a slightly better job of it in future and i'm just wondering what sort of kit is needed for the finish of your parts

Well, I converted a Sherline mill to cnc (long story actually). And use various CAD programs to design and cut the parts. There is little finishing time, 5 minused maybe. The cutting time for that particular piece was about 8 minutes. The design was maybe an hour. Set up for the first piece was about 30 minutes. Best part being its pretty quick to make more . -Jeff

12 USD for fiber glass. 18 USD for CF. I may change the hole arrangement slightly, so they are not ready for sale -soon. They are made for the Kyosho ZX5/Ultima mount. -Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Did you use the 3mm (fine thread?) screws to replace the self tapping screws e.g 4x1/4, 4x1/2, etc? I thought these had a larger diameter than the 3mm screws, how did this work out - do they hold/lock ok?

Replace this 4x1/2... ...with this? M3x16 Thanks for your help
