Gear ratios for a 6 gear brushless

Can anyone give me an approximate gear ratio for an RC10T with a 6 gear tranny and a novak brushless? I am not sure what I am running now but my 6 cell battery is getting hot on every run, hot enough to melt the outer cover off. I appreciate any help.

Which Novak brushless motor? I’m guessing you have a fairly fast one, and it’s trying to pull more amps than you 6 cell can provide. What battery, age, etc? Might need a better battery, even with gearing changes (or a motor change). Oh, and how freely does the 6 gear run?

The battery is brand new. 5300mah I believe. The 6 gear turns smoothly.

OK, still need to know which brushless motor it is. This is critical to gearing.
Oh, and a general description of use and running surface can help.

The motor is a Novak Velociti 5.5r. I mostly run in on pavement and grass.

there hasn't been any development on nimh for ages now. A 5.5 is a seriously hairy mill that pulls A LOT of amps... what I'm saying is that the technology of "leisure" packs like yours isn't matched to that motor. What you're seeing is the internal resistance of the pack being too high, and generating too much heat under the high load (current) of the 5.5.
More than going to more conservative gearing, get a better battery or a milder mill (10.5's is plenty plenty plenty enough for a 6G)
