Does the Triumph diff use the same components as the Ultima/Optima Option House Diff (obviously excepting the belt pulley)?
In other words, If i source the internal pulleys, case and motor plate - am I good to go??
Oh, and some kind of 5mm topshaft/slipper assembly...
Thanks!!

Really

. I looked at the manuals online, and you are right, the diff assy looks different, the hubs have separate rings on the Triumph. But the outdrives look the same, the bearing size is the same, it may be worth trying. I'm trying to find a fairly cheap way to upgrade my Ultima with a better tranny. It's insane trying to find spur clusters for this thing, and I still cannot seem to pick up a gear cover either.

hello,
the ball diff for the ultima (with the exception of the diff gear) is identical to the one used on the triumph. All of the early ball diffs were the same.

USA1 - the Ultima gear cover is the one I cannot seem to get a hold of. Also spur clusters are trouble too. It is for these and other reasons (slipper clutch, 48p (metric)) that I'm exploring the Triumph tranny as an upgrade for my Ultima. It's a pretty common mod, for those running an Ultima...

Pretty easy too...adapting a standard 48p gear is a simple mod if you don't mind living without a slipper clutch.

On my first triumph, I was using a robinson spur (standard) and the traxxas slipper pegs. The rest of the triumph slipper components were used. The only thing I had to fabricate was a bushing with a 4mm inside diameter but with a 3/8 outside diameter for the spur.
