can storing rc cars in the garage exposed to chemical fumes and temperature/ moisture changes damage the plastic or other parts? anyone one have some horror stories or experiences with this? i know the metal screws on the bottom will probably rust...

Years ago I bought an entire collection from someone that had his gear sitting in the shed for many many years untouched. Living around 15km from the coast line I can tell you that everything that could rust, DID!

I store all my cars in cardboard postage boxes and my tyres in zip lock bags. Ive tried having them on shelves for display in my shed but the amount of dust that accumulates in that kind of environment is suprising.

Yes - it's called "shelf wear". My shelves are in the garage too... and although it's less damaging than running the cars for good, everything tends to get dusty "in depth" after a while and tarnished too. But I want to be able to watch my babies when I go downstairs, so between this and pristine cars locked in boxes, I made my call...

I do the same as Jason, but I also add a packet of moisture absorbing silca gel

Use silicone spray on anything metal keeps it from rusting or oxidizing or sticking into position from sitting.DON

I'm with Paul! I like to see my babies as well! I just give the bodies a quick gentle dust off with a Swiffer and when the tires and suspension get very dusty I will use the compressor and blow them off out side!

If you can't see them every day, you can't enjoy them!

so im realizing i have way to many rc cars and i feel like im overwhelmed and i dont make any progress with them. i feel like i have a creative/mental block, lack of tools, disorganization, no time, laziness, school, a car project and a whole host of other things. there is this new girl i will probably be having in my room sometime soon to watch a movie, im in the process of reorganized all my stuff. now im feeling maybe i should just move it all in the garage with my car so its out of sight. my collection is not all over the place, its only 3 bookshelves and two sets of plastic drawers about 10 feet tall and thats it, for what it is its very compact, flat against one wall of my room. you ever have people see your collection and get freaked out? thats what im trying to avoid. ive been watching youtube "help im a hoarder" and i think i may be one... but i throw crap away i only have way too many rc cars. i dont keep mail or newspapers or any of that. in one episode a guy had like 5000 bikes and bike parts and i was like how is that hoarding maybe he just likes bikes. any input?

Those are (literally) some cool fans. We have an Emerson one from the 1940's.

put your cars in giant zip lock bags. they keep in the freshness.
