Can you CC my 10T...updated 07/26/11

Okay, it's been awhile since I've actually built anything (even though I've done lots of buying  ). So over the weekend I decided to pull out the parts I've gathered for this build. I wasn't sure which direction I was going to go with this but after talking with a friend and discussing how trucks don't get nearly as much love as buggies this is what I've come up with so far.

First I have the chassis set that I picked up when Mr. Stormer decide to move some of his collection.

Next is most of the stuff that will be used in the build (not everything but a good portion of it). I've got something special planned for the wheels and with a few bits donated to me by Reg I should be able to pull it off.

And thanks to Reg again I now have a bunch of RPM stuff for this build. After test fitting everything some filing was necessary. (pictured here before dying / re-dying)

Here's everything after being re-dyed. The ball cups are 6-40 for a beefy set of new Tecnacraft turnbuckles.

I decided not to use the RPM tranny case pictured above. Instead I decided to pull out every trick tranny part I had to build a SUPER stealth. Mainly because I wanted to use the ultralite HG topshaft

I've actually assembled a good portion of it but still need to take more pics. I hope you enjoy what I've got so far.

Thanks,
Dave

Lookin' good!!!

AND, you answered a question I've been pondering; I have an RPM buggy - and it's dyed red/white/blue (actually, NOT dyed white but you get my drift)(and I'm quite patriotic but honestly, this thing is pretty fugly).

IF I have a game plan, it would be to dye everything black and make a kinda' 'dark knight' stealth trannyed buggy....

AND, you have shown me that you can 'over dye' blue which was my concern; I think red will be a piece of cake!

Did you use extra high temps???

Strong mix of dye????

Anything I should know????

Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Thank you sir and nope nothing special. Just heat it to just below a boil (a nice simmer) and stir regularly. I did use a stronger mixture than what's recommended on the bottle. Maybe half the bottle to less than a half gallon of water. Might be overkill but dye is cheap and I wanted nice black parts, good luck.

This is a great build with a perfect selection of parts! I've never seen one of those HG top shafts.

Yes same chassis, one of the coolest Chassis they made, IMO.

Okay, so as I was assembling some parts when I ran into a snag. What I didn't realize was that the topdeck on this chassis set runs through the front tower (unlike the older versions that stopped before the front tower). And since I don't have the correct CC tower (nor can I make a cool one off like m-vice  ) I had to take a dremel to a T2. Nothing fancy but it'll have to work until I source the right one (the left shows how the center was shaped with the modded one on the right).

And a couple quick pics, first the assembled tie rods and shocks.

And a nice new Proline Nissan Hardbody shell that will eventually get mounted.

If any kind soul out there has a Composite Craft 10T front shock tower they don't mind parting with please feel free to contact me :D

Why yes it was, the price wasn't too bad but the shipping was kind of high. Luckily I contacted the seller first and got a much better shipping quote :D

Thank you sir, I have a nip 6130 that I was going to use on it but I thought this build deserved something a bit more rare.

I'm working on it, I still need to get over to the "specialty" store.
