Ok, I said I will post how to DIY plastic part. And I will show you my method here. The procedure is very simple, as long as you have such special glue. This example is not sucsses on its back side, I know you can do better then I did.
And I personally feel it has simular strength vs. to original plastic part.

This is the plastic part I want to reproduce, because I hate that it got a cut. By doing this, I need to have original part to copy of course.

You have to prepare this glue. I'm sorry it was wrote in Japanese.
Image

The glue contains a bottle powder & a bottle of liquid. If you mix them together, it will be solidify in 5 minutes.
Image

It also contains two pices silicon inside. And we need to create mold by using it.
Image

Just put the silicons into 80 degree hot water, it will become very soft. Maybe that is why my wife don't like me to have a bath.
Image

Now, we can make the mold now~
Image

It is time to make the part~
Image

Scatter some powder in, this is very important procedure to prevent bubble.
Image

Add some liquid~
Image

Add some mixed material which catches by the needle. This is very unique method created by the glue maker. I like it! 8) I'm sorry I can't take photo about how to use the needle to catch the material. Since I have to finish it as soon as I can. It dries cray fast!
Image

Done~ It is a little bit ugly. Since I can't take photos & done this well at the same time.
Image

After 5 minutes, the baby is ready to leave mom.
Image

Believe what you see. It looks very beautiful! Even the "MIP" word.
Image

Trim the edge~
Image

Do it again for another side.
Image

Done. I did very bad job for the back side. However, this is only an example.
Image

Here below is the place you can find the special glue. But don't ask me what it says. Because I don't understand Japanese as well. It even shows an example to repro a gear. I don't know if it is strong enough, I hope someone can try it. :D

I make molds and castings using materials from Smooth-On. They have a wide range of mold rubbers and casting resins for nearly every application. It's actually pretty fun to do.

Wouldn't you end up with two separate black pieces, rather than the one MIP piece for example?

I tried another case for reproducing the window frame for my 1/8 sand buggy. And I give a try to its strengthness. As you can see from photo, it has great strength & flexibility. 8)

That stuff looks exactly like Plastex (thats the brand name sold here in Australia) and its generally sold by Motorcycle shops for fixing plastic fairings etc.

My plastex kit came with the same tub of powder, the same heat in water mould maker etc... FWIW, it is great for fixing fairings and other plastic parts. I never tried making new parts with mine.

The powder came in 3 different colours when I got mine: Black, White and Grey... the White stuff might be the most popular here :)

Hope that helps.
