This sounds like a pretty cool thing you are doing.

You know I may be able to help you out on some parts if you need them. I have a lathe and mill here at the house. As long as you are not looking for anything too complicated, I can help you out.

I would love to have a 4X4 Jrxt!!!! Great Idea

I gave it a few stares tonight, then giggled... so proud The bad thing is that I came up with revisions allready, so I figure just do it in phases. Got a used NXT on the way, stripped of anything nitro, to use parts from on my mid motor "JLX2"... Now that I can see the exploded manual online, more ideas come to mind.

Bummed that I cant set the motor mount to the chassis until the belt arrives, which completes Stage 1 of Phase 1. Stage 1 would be the working 2wd belt drive conversion, and not a Trackmaster bolt on, but it did inspire it. Stage 2 would be a finished 4wd prototype, which logically should work.

As far as machining goes, I might need some help so yes, that would help alot Jake.. thanks! My machinist is expensive, and thats understandable. He does great for producing existing files, but prototyping is another ballgame. I have a few things he makes for me for BMX, and eventually for the buggy im designing (oops, slipped). His brother is a liquid injection molder, so thats a huge plus

On a side note, I just started driving on a track for the first time in my life, 3 months ago, which since last month has closed down. Sux, yes... Another track is opening next month locally, hopefully. My point is, why am I looked at as if I'm the crazy one, when I ask around the track, why hasnt a flipping mechanism been created... What like 30 years of racing and no 3rd channel activated flipping servo? It took me 30 minutes in CAD, cmon people! hehe

yeah....pictures or it didn't happen I'm curious to see how you implemented the front drive transmission and belt.

Ha! Well, since this is a "challenge", I'm challenging others to post pics as well

All I have so far is "Stage 1", the 2wd belt conversion, awaiting for the belt to arrive to be completed, as stated above. I've been super busy with print orders so I have to step back from playing till I catch up.

Just got an Ebay order update on the belt Im waiting for. The seller recently and sunddenly lost his wife. I believe it 100% as hes been a great seller and Ebay member to deal with, for me at least. Very sad, I cant even imagine what thats like. Reminds me to go get tests that I've been avoiding, sux.

I've been thinking of building a jrx4 for years. I think I figured out how to make the rear gearbox work, but I'm stuck on the front. I'm thinking of having the belt come from the side...like the mip conversion for the rc10.

Looks like you're going to run the belt down the middle...which I think is the easiest thing to do, but I could never figure out how to modify the trans so that the belt is centered. Very creative.
