After reading the Tomy read-ups by Tamiyadan I started wondering if anybody has some personal experience with the Academy Wyvern line-up; another model often claimed as a copy of the yokomo of back then

Looks like somebody stepped on the body.
i wonder if we should blame Kyosho for making a midship Design So Good that everyone has been copying the Optima Mid for 20 years.
For this reason, I've said before that since the late 80's, not including modern technology electronics & batteries, have there been many truly innovative advancements in chassis design? IMHO, not really.

There's a spare part list on the same site with drawings of most parts. The suspension arms are what got me interested.
I've seen some for sale on ebay germany earlier. So yes, there was some export but they never succeeded to create a good market for themselves here in Belgium.

Associated laid the first stone for that other popular layout with its TC: moter and electronics on one side, batteries on the other, and a central axle

I got a new in box Wyvern EX late last year.

The only crappy part at first view is the motermount; plastic :( oh, and the shocks perhaps.
If it wasn't for that I'd probably have built it up already.
One thing's for sure : I'm never gonna look for the option parts: who in hell needs fluo-pink , or blue replacements for black plastic shock parts???

It's a neat-looking car except for the fact the body looks like a fat lady sat on it... :?

I think that canmostly be fixed with a proper paintscheme.
There's actually quite some details and lines in the body but they're pretty much invisible with the boxart.

I don't think I'll put the rear-view mirrors on though

No, it's still on the shelf in the basement.

I have an MX-4 that's not seen a track yet since I own it, MR4-bc I only ran as a 2wd truck and a hotdog that has only seen an indoor track with astro turf. My optima and lazer aswell as the opima mid and a collection of hirobo parts are all waiting for completion / a personal touch.

But it's a lot easier to find races I can compete in with my vintage 2wd's than the 4wd's. So that's where my priority is currently.

(Loving to build my own customs I must admit: I find it a lot easier to do 2wds than 4wds also. Even when they work out occasionally, I'm never really happy with the open gearcases)

Lack of time comes plenty in this hobby.
I´ve been brough Your garage, and You have some vey nice custom builds.
I´can´t understand why You haven´t shipped the Ultima to me Yet

Which ultima did you want me to ship to you then, I have a few ;)
The main problem with the 4 wd's is the lak of motivation to put them on a higher priority.
Why build another one while I haven't run most yet and don't see an opportunity in the near future.
