I figured...its got a battery, motor...and my son wants one, but maybe we could make it a *touch* faster than 10 mph. You know, just for fun.

Any thoughts?

Castle put a couple of Brushless motors in a Power Wheels Jeep a few years ago and it was pretty cool. Just make sure your dental plan is current!

So what do you think I would need in terms of a battery (Lipo?) and motor?

Hard to say without seeing the innards. How much does your son weigh?

Spend $100 more and get the 300, it goes 50% faster. Unless you can mod it yourself for less than the upgrade price.

I have a line on a cheap 100 so that's why I was going with that one. My son weighs about 70 lbs. I was thinking of ditching the lead acid battery and replacing it with this

I doubt there's much you can do with the motor. Electric motors are built for a certain output and short of completely disassembling it and tweaking it--which would probably only gain a fraction of performance gain--they do what they're intended to do. Increasing the voltage into the motor will make a significant difference, but you run the risk of frying the motor as it was probably not intended to receive the excess voltage. But why not go for it?

EDIT: I see the scooter uses 2 x 12V batteries, but I couldn't find any specs beyond that. To get more oomph, you'll need to output more than 24V to that motor, and how long a battery lasts depends on the mAh rating--which I couldn't find on the included batteries. The battery you linked outputs less than 24V so even if it lasted more than a few minutes, it would result in decreased performance, not an increase. If you bought TWO of those, then you'd be talkin'....44+ volts would make a difference, but now you'd have spent close to $200 without even knowing the mAh rating for a proper comparison. Just spend the extra $100 and get 50% more performance and know that you won't blow up the motor or have only 2 minutes of run-time.

You might have to make a few phone calls to find out what the mAh rating is on the scooter's two 12V batteries.

Here's something with adding more batteries. Looks like after putting some $$ into it you can achieve 38-40mph

After reading the above links, the e100 appears to have a 24v 1000w motor and a 7 aH battery.

Is there a simple drop in battery that might give it a little more juice? Or I wonder if I can buy the e300 motor and put that in

Hey everyone, bringing this thread back from the dead. I've been doing a little bit of reading at modified electric scooters and there are guys who have done lipo conversions on their scooters.

There are a few challenges:

1. Lipo cutoff - it needs a board http://www.batteryspace.com/pcmwithequilibriumfunctionfor296vbatterypackat30alimit.aspx

2. Controller - the current one I have is rated at 24 v so with two 14.8V 4S lipos, I'd be just over that, meaning I would probably need a new controller

3. Rear tire - the stock one is rather small and narrow. I haven't been able to find any references to whether or not the stock one can be swapped for the one on the E200 or E300 which are pneumatic instead of solid rubber.

What's really cool is that assuming I can swap the guts out, that you can get different sprockets for the chain to experiment with gearing for more initial speed or more top end.

C'mon guys, there has to be SOMEONE else here who has a kid with a scooter and has thought of modding one of these!!

i bought one of those for my kid many years ago. still up in my parents garage with a blown out rear tire. but i never did any modding to it.

Which one? E100, 200 or 300? Wanna sell it?

i don't remember which one it is. i'd have to dig it out.

That small front wheel and speed could spell disaster. I picked up a baja warrior and this clutch for my boy. Went from around 20mph stock to 45 with the kit.
