In 1985, Tamiya released a 1/12 scale R/C model of the Toyota Tom’s 84C Group C race car and it enjoyed a great reputation. In recent years, the 1/12 scale class has become a very popular R/C race class once again. To re-enter this exciting class, Tamiya’s Toyota Tom’s 84C will be making a return on the brand-new RM-01 chassis. This new chassis features a Direct Drive 2WD setup and a Pivot-Ball Link Rear (PBLR) suspension to offer linear throttle and steering response and realistic racing action.

380 as standard?
its a shame about this new chassis, I rather liked the old one. if Tamiya wanted to be competitive in 1/12th scale, they should release a proper kit, not a re-re that wont be competitive at all

Well, it looks like it may be a re-re but with a new chassis. I can't find more on it but the article says
"making a return on the brand-new RM-01 chassis"
EDIT: Crap, I need to learn how to read. You did mention the new chassis.

I've wondered if they've changed the wheelbase when I saw that pic about two weeks ago.

That chassis really doesn't look too bad, it would be a cool spec class. Sort of like VTA but with realistic looking gtp cars!
I've heard some people say the 380 size motor is the future of 12th scale with all the power brushless and lipo have made available. The main thing is the weight, a lighter car is easier on elctronics and tires.
This chassis can use standard 3 bolt wheels too.

3 or 2...I thought 2 was the norm. Dang, so much to learn...lol

They changed the number of bolts some years ago.
