My New RC10T Updated Painted
So here's the latest purchase.
It's a new, partially built RC10T. Also came with original box (rough shape), all paperwork and manuals including purchase receipt from 1991, a Joel Magic Johnson Stock motor new in box with instructions, and a new in box Futaba Magnum Sport radio complete. Needs a nice vintage ESC if anyone has something that would work.
Body was cut with a knife or scissors, terrible, but it's mostly within the wheel wells so a dremel will fix that right up. Also a bit hazy here and there just from being in the box and rubbing the cardboard, but I am going to try the floor wax trick on it once it's painted.
I think it was previously owned by santa claus because whoever had it dyed all the parts red and green. You can see them in the ziplock bag in the first pic. Truck was mostly assembled so I took it all apart to re-dye everything black. Also CLR'd all the metal parts (bolts, buckles, etc) since some of them had some surface rust.
Chassis is perfect.
Restored the tires using some oils and some armor-all. Not too bad for being 20 years old.
Not sure what colors this one will be, but I am thinking mostly black to keep the theme going. Might also black shrink-tube the turnbuckles also. Going to be a shelfer, maybe a run in the grass or carpet here and there, but it's way too perfect to scratch up.
So here she is. I'll update as I get it completed. My kitchen still smells like RIT dye and CLR. My wife can be an understanding person when she needs to be...

Re: My New RC10T
The spots on the rear arms (and anywhere else) are overspray from my armor all antics with the tires. The dye job looks great in person. I ended up brushing the entire truck over with a long soft bristled brush with more armor all on it, actually looks fantastic all shiny.

Re: My New RC10T
I might pick up another body, it's a weird pull where one side is very thick and the other side is thin. Don't want to waste the original stickers on a questionable shell. Thinking it over.

Re: My New RC10T Updated Painted
Got home and took another look at the shell, it's not as bad as I thought, so I went ahead and stickered her up.
Very happy with the results. Just need to pick up some 1/8 white stripe tape to trim off the orange areas and I'll call it done. Going to leave it in this state on the shelf, unfinished but will all parts at the ready. Also just need a nice vintage ESC to go with it.

Do, or do not! There is no 'try'!
