Welcome to the forum. Your questions are pretty broad ranging and not really easy to answer. If I might suggest, just ask specific questions and I'm sure you will get lots of answers and advice.

This is a VERY friendly forum with TONS of information available from a wide range of experienced people.

For a controller, I think its hard to beat the Flysky FS-GT3B. Its a 2.4ghz system that works great, and extra recievers are dirt cheap. I used mine most of last summer and it worked great. Don't let the low price fool you..

What ESC are you going to use? That really depends on if you should get the newer lipo batteries or maybe stick with the NiMH batteries.

The Losi XX is a great buggy. I bought a beat up one a while ago and fixed her up to almost new. I ran it at the end of the summer and I really love how it drove. Heres mine.

That looks to be a really clean buggy, gotta love it. Hopefully mine will turn out close to that.

That is a nice,clean car!
I too strongly recommend the GT3B radios, they are such good value.
For total plug and play,no hassle electronics at a reasonable price,I'd go with a HobbyWing Eazy Run ESC ,the matching HobbyWing brushless 9 turn (4300kv) motor, pretty much any 5000mah LIPO hard case battery and an IMAX B6 charger.
You just can't go wrong with that combo,I've set three cars up with that combo and beat the living heck out of them, without one problem.
