I know this site deals mainly with vintage beauties, but is there any interest in a Formula Off Road thread? I'm currently working on one and was wondering who else is into this.

BTW, for those who don't know, RC FOFF is the rc version of full size Formula Off Road:

It seems like this might be the next "in" thing? I wouldn't be surprised if we saw an R/C company produce a kit in the future. I'm only on board with the ones running straight axles.

That's what mine is going to be, straight axle. Using the basic components from an HPI Crawler King.

You should see them mounted on chrome bead locks! Pics as soon as I get home from work.

I agree this could be the next Big Thing.

Here are the tires mounted on the HPI bead lock rims. I like the look I have them mounted to the original Crawler frame but it's stance is much too high. I'm going to use the drive train from it and build up a sleeker chassis for it.

I originally thought of using them on the tube frame I have already build but the scale is wrong, I added a picture of that for size reference.

They do look great on those rims. I used to talk to a guy in Iceland about Formula Offroad and he didn't know what I meant when I said paddle tires. He said they called them bucket tires over there. I don't know how true that is but its an interesting note nevertheless.

Formula Offroad is a ton of fun ... had my foff scx10 honcho set up with wide offset 2.2 rims,sand paw tires and a brushless motor.. great time.. id like to see a rtr Formula Offroad rc..

I think for now the Wraith is as close as it gets for an RTR. As soon as I get back from holidays I'm going to get back to this build.

I first noticed FOFF in about February of 2011. As soon as I heard of the Wraith I got myself one specifically for FOFF. I actually got a set of ProLine paddle tires for it long before I got it

So far I ordered myself a CKRC Suspension Lowering Kit, CKRC Heavy Duty Drive Shaft Kit, STRC aluminum steering knuckles, and a HR steering linkage set. Eventually I will try and have all aluminum stuff for axles and linkages, might have to drop a used Mamba Max 5700 combo I have into it too. Since I'm a Toyota nut, I am going to try and attach some Hilux parts on it and convert the rear end into a truck cage.

Those parts look awesome! Really diggin' those drive shafts!

I got the knuckles and steering linkages installed. The HR linkage going to the servo horn is way too short, by almost an inch wonder what that's about

Another part to add to anyone's list might be an aluminum servo horn. Mine stripped the first time hitting the trail. I better steering servo would also be recommended.

I don't want to steer away from the FOFF theme, but if were going to convert a Wraith into a FOFF truck, you would still want these parts.

I was waiting for that. I didn't want to steel the thread with my Wraith build, but since there isn't many replies in this thread maybe it would be okay.

I will have to get some after it dries off. I just had it in a creek beside my house, so I may have to do some cleaning. I'm headed out to see my folks today too, so you may have to hold tight for a day. I hope the suspense isn't too much
