Who else is getting ready for this years racing season?

Hi guys,

All my cars for the 2012 season arrived just after Christmas. I thought that I would throw up a pic of the long nights of building that I have ahead.

I have started the 1/8th DEX408 - still have the DEX210, DEX410 and the TLR22T to go. It's fun - but jeez the wrists are already sore!! Had to go out and buy myself a cordless screwdriver!

How many others here race modern cars as well? Do we have any more R/C tragics? I know a few of you do race modern.

I know that there is not a tonne of racing state-side at this time of year outdoors due to weather - so you are probably busy getting ready anyway!! Please feel free to post your pics up of your modern race cars. We could make this a thread for sharing set ups - general racing chat or whatever.

Since getting back into the hobby a year ago I've been trying to get to the track atleast once a week. My home track is a small indoor track (hard packed dirt) ten minutes from my house. For this spring my plan is to get into a nitro 1/8 scale buggy and do some outdoor racing.

I can finally say I have a modern buggy(b4). I am ready to go, and there is actually a big race this weekend at my local track, but I am fighting with should I race, or watch the Patriots Championship game...

Hey Darryn, send that 210 my way, I'll get it built and broken in for ya. I'll have it back to ya by indoor season in the fall. How's that sound...? ;)

I'm going to be prepping my B4 (it'll be a 4.1 by the time I'm through with prepping) for the outdoor season in Toronto. I'm still using the original chassis that I got with the car when I first bought it the month it was initially released to hobby shops! Somehow, I never managed to break a chassis. Either I never drove fast enough or often enough... maybe both? I really want to pull the trigger on a 210 though, especially since indoor carpet offroad is popular in Toronto once the weather turns chilly. I'll post some pics in May once I get around to it ;)

i race a first gen factory team b4, it's old and still great. (i don't do the new car every year thing, hell my b4 is second hand, no idea how old it acutally is lol)
i also race a 1/8 ft rc8be.
i have a ft sc10 but just can't get into shortbus racing.

once the middle of summe hit's i'll get to work on my vintage rides to get them ready for the vonats.
i ususally race my 5link jrx2 and rc10t.
last year i built a "old is new" rc10 but didn't run it, i just love the jrx2 too much not to run it.
this year i'm building a turbo optima for the vonats as well.

personally i'd race vintage all year if i could.

in the winter i race fwd and 4wd mini coopers on carpet.

Same here. SC racing at my track can turn into a bashfest, the only time I drive the truck anymore is during open practice when it's not buggy safe.

I love that the term "shortbus" is catching on-

I think it deserves a little more respect since it is the only reason a lot of tracks can afford to stay open. If the class hadn't come along I think there would be far fewer tracks for any class to race on. Just my .02

It has made RC come alive again, but- 90% of the short course drivers marshal and drive like 13 year olds. IMHO

I wish I could argue, but as the entry level class for today's racing that can often be the case. Kinda like box stock Tamiya was BITD. I remember getting started with my Hornet and "jerk-steering" it all the way around the oval.

Back to the subject of the thread, I am absolutely ready to start racing again! :D ...and I will be racing short bus. I may catch a ride to the track in one too. I like it due to the big turnouts.

Sorry, but it ate at me the entire drive home from work...

I apologize for my references to the "short bus". Most of the kids that ride these need to due to some kind of mental issue, not because they're of low intelligence. I would simply go back and delete or edit my posts, but that would be implying that it was never said. While I enjoy poking fun at myself, I don't take pleasure in poking fun at others who can't take it or defend themselves. Even on the internet...

Sorry if this seems weird, but I will sleep better tonight knowing that I posted it. :D

Even more apologies to Retro for weirdening up(not a word I know)his thread. I will keep my nose out of it no matter how bored I get at work from now on.
