I like the part in this video where you watch the dudes head in sync with the cars.

I cringed the entire length of that because I was waiting for someone to get seriously injured by one of those cars!

That's insane how fast those things are! What did they do during the break in the middle of the race? Change tires and contacts?

And did that computer screen show 1000+ laps?

gotta love group 7. 8)

during the break, the car was getting prepped for the next race. a shot of motor cleaner, new tires and braid, drop of oil on the motor and axle bearings. while one guy does that, usually the driver, a pit guy is prepping the inside groove on corner entry on the next lane the driver will be running on. removing the glue used by the previous racer, and laying down his own.

Somebody here linked to that a week or so ago. It made me wonder "what's the friggin' point?" If the slot cars go that fast, where's the strategy? I guess not unlike the majority of people (kids?) these days with RC cars and all they want to do is go as fast as possible in a straight line, speed-runs-in-front-of-their-driveway. Boring, to be honest.

I don't know how you could even follow your own car. Just looks like a bunch of blurs going at light speed.

I don't see why they bother having corners. They should just make it a big circle and be done with it. Those are probably the same guys who will go out and buy the Traxxass's XO-1 waste of plastic.

I love that the older guy won! I was watching him drive very calmly and confidently 8)
For those that don't understand Group 7 complexity, your missing some amazing things out of something so simple.

i love the pit action. just like a 12 or 10th scale on road event. i've always enjoyed going to these things in my neck of the woods. some of these layouts are insane!

how about 24hours? check out the part where they turn off the lights and the cars turn theirs on.

It's simply complex for sure. It really looks fake how fast they're going even though it's real.

I’ve been slot racing on and off for the last twenty three years. Wing cars have always been my first preference but I also race “scale” and retro-vintage cars. The cars look relatively simple but on the technical side the amount of work that goes into motor building and car set-up will blow your mind. And the racing is intense.

Do those front "wheels" actually work or they just there to meet rules?

I had a couple of womp womps (is that right?) when I was around 11 and 12. I would go to the local track with my cousin and uncle during the summers. I think I still have one now that I think about it. Good times!

They’re just a technicality, they don’t actually touch the track.

Does anybody else find it hilariously ironic that those flat Lexan slot car bodies have a cockpit/driver sticker pasted on them? I mean...does it really MATTER at those speeds??
