To Build it or not to build it

I have some old Kyosho and other brands new in the box, people say I should build them. Some part of me wants to, some part of me doesn't I really don't know. Should I or shouldn't I?

Build them, someone will, might as well be you.

I would build them all. To me a completed car looks better on the shelf than a box.

You also can't drive a box--and it's not that much fun pushing a box around on the floor while making "Vroom vroom!" noises. 8)

I think this is a tricky question and it’s always easy to be a bystander and tell other people what to do. But when you stand there with your NIB kit asking yourself: Should I build or not, then it’s not easy making up your mind.
I think you already have made up your mind to build at least one of those NIB kit. So go ahead and build one of the kits, afterword’s you can sum up and see if you got that kick you expected. This is what I should have done.

I put in lots of energy tracking down old hop-up parts to my Circuit 1000 buggy’s, and I have no problem open up those NIP parts and mount them on my buggy’s. A friend told me once: do you realize that the value drops with 70%? I told him: Yes, but what god is they doing lying in at bag and put away where no one can see them?

INVESTMENT or ENJOYMENT?

INVESTMENT or ENJOYMENT?

I can see both sides of the deal really. Some people enjoy looking over a nib kit and it kinda makes sense as it reminds people of how they were the day they first got their kit. All the anticipation of the build to come.

Personaly I am not one of those people. I would like to keep a few nib kits but at the cost I wouldn't be able to affor it. I like building, rebuilding, driving, tuning and modifying my vintage racers.

Still, if you have a nib kit (or many) it's really up to you though isn't it?

Yep, looks like a box of parts waiting to be built.

What the heck is that?

In an ideal situation I'd have 4 of each car I like. 1 NIB, 1 new built to box shelfer, 1 modified with all period hop-ups i could find shelfer and one nice runner. Only problem with that is there are so many we all like that you would be soon overrun with cars everywhere and most likely be broke. Find your happy realistic medium, everyone's is different.

I've gone from wanting to preserve/semi-restore my old race buggies to wanting to build the full Schumacher 2wd buggy line and build a vintage racer in only a couple days of browsing the forums. Luckily(?) I don't have enough excess cash to do all that.

Hold Batman!!!!!

A new in box Incident! These cars are so rare I dont think I've ever seen a nib kit before. Even built examples are very hard to come by.

Don't build it! Don't build it!

    (jokes)

Simple Franco.

Build it. Enjoy it. Admire it on the shelf.

That's what i do Than run it.

90% of my collection are runners. The only ones that aren't runners are the ones that i have more than one of.

Show us build pic's please.

I think it will get built, one thing I will do is scan the decal sheet before I cut it. I can't believe I have 2 of them!

Hi just joined and I also have an RCL Incident Pro that was never run. I recently acquired it through Craigslist, such an awesome fine. Anyways, I was doing some research and came across this tread, was the car ever built?

BTW, here's mine. Came with an unpainted/uncut body and wing. Not sure if I plan to paint it.
