Has anyone tried dying the Dynotech Klein arms? Dynotech's webpage says the material is nylon 6/6, which should be fine for dying, but I wanted to see if any of my fellow members have tried.

i'm sure i have seen klein arms dyed black here on the forums.

i have dyed them pink. one thing i noticed is that the cut/milled edges took dye very heavy while the shinier top and bottom sides came out noticeably lighter. the end result was pink arms top and bottom and red arms on the edges. now with black you wont notice this as bad.

scuff the shiney portions for even dyeing.

steve.. obviously you have not seen a set of dynotech arms first hand. unlike nearly ALL name brands the dynotech arms are NOT injection molded. they are machined. process goes something like this.

start with a solid sheet of nylon.
clamp it to mill.
mill out arms.
remove arms and clean edges if needed.
drill arms for hinge pis and shocks.

now to round the edges you would need to change the bit on the mill to a rounded router style bit. and clamp each arm back down to the mill and round the edges on one side. remove and flip and reclamp the single arm down and repeat the process. this would more than double the time it would take to make the arms. we would be lucky if the arms didn't cost $30 each. plus less material would make them a bit easier to break. and at the current $9 per arm i would in no way want a product that would no hold up as well.

They are nice and sturdy pieces for sure.

Yes, see the final pictures of my old is new build using rear Klein arms (I sold the car to askbob). I dyed the rear arms black and it looked great.

I just ordered a set of Dynotech Arms for fronts and rears. I ordered them because they seem to be the most durable AND......
Per Dynotech they are longer than RPM's
Rpm's are about 2" center pin to center pin

Klein arms are: front 2.400"
rear 2.540"

I am trying to get my car to the max ROAR legal width of 9.84". Currently at 9.250" front and rear width using RPM rears and long shafts and long arms up front.

I'm not 110% sure, but I think the Dynotech/Klein arms are the same length front and rear as the RPM worlds arms.
