the whole brute is worth about as much as some original optima wheels from the same year ;0(

The Big Brute could be easily mistaken for a Tamiya chassis...talk about plastastic!

Gee is this payback for me mocking your preference for the original speed controller ;)

Or are you jealous of my custom fabricated aluminum wheel hubs

When I first saw the Big Brute as a kid I thought is was this gigantic scary monster that I hoped wouldn't ever get a chance to run over my car at the track. Now when I see it all I think about is the amount of plastic it has. It's funny how perception changes from childhood to adulthood. Then again I used to love the Marui Big Bear and always wanted to race one!

Seems people here think the Brute was fragile, I had great luck as a kid, I had it for years and beat the living snot out of it, launching off anything I could find bashing into stuff left and right. Good memories!

This one I pretty much drive around the house, but I just acquired everything to convert to full thorp box and dog bones so it may get a bit more power.

It's all relative. Back in the day I never broke anything unless I hit a curb wrong on the street since we always raced in real soft dirt. Those big trucks weren't speed demons like cars are today either. Slower speed crashes inflict less damage. Those guys were always busy chasing the cars down so they could run over us!

Yeah compared to today it is toally sloppy to drive but that also makes it fun. I thought about putting oil shocks on it and a few other improvements but its crude bouncy ride is half the fun.

The other main concern I have with plastastic models is not so much overall durability, but the propensity for parts to have threads stripped out. Granted, you can have similar problems with alloy parts, but usually only if you're not careful or overly heavy-handed with your tools...

I remember I wanted the Big Brute so bad when i was a kid. I just restored one not to long ago. I was pretty disapointed in it to say the least. I sure am glad I didnt waste my money on it when I was a kid.

There are so many aftermarket parts available to beef them up you'd be surprised.

My 05 Le Mans stock motor was pretty shot, so I replaced it with a trinity 550 19-turn monster motor that and the hitek-645mg servo make it tons of fun :) I just worry about the brushes breaking easily with these monster motors...

This was my most prized RC car and I must say the most disappointing. Front knuckle arm after from knuckle arm broke again and again. Always stripped out. I did love it though.

The Le Mans 05 wasn't bad though.

Score! Finally got a BB once again...it has been years. Can't wait until I get it and run it around and hear that noise again...lol...then to the shelf before she blows a knuckle arm.
