Ok, so I bagged myself a BNIB Novak 410-M5 esc. It turned up this morning and I had great joy in finding that it was 100% complete with all it's individual parts still bagged as well as mint condition stickers and instruction booklet.

I paid $71.00 for it and another ten bucks to have it shipped to the Uk, which I was quite happy with.

Just out of curiosity: how much would one of these cost back in the day when they were first released?

Couldn't find an original price, but they were manufactured from 1992 to 1995. :)

I have a receipt from February 1995 when I bought one from my LHS and it was $69.99...the list price of $109.00 was also written on the receipt.

Well, that's really shocked me! I was expecting to find out that I'd paid at least double the original price, not that I'd actually got a bargain! Lol!

I know that an 'item' is only worth the price that someone is willing to pay for it, but I'm happy to think I got a real bargain: cool!

The 410 M5 was a super popular entry level Novak, I bet 75% of my local track was running them in 92- The higher end full racing Novaks, for example were double and more the cost of that one BITD. Nice find too

Ahh you are right.

In Australia they would been at least $180 while the full race version would have been close to $300.

The Cyclone here was around $350 to $400.

The prices we paid here in Australia was just crazy. I paid $350 for a new KO CX1 in 88.

E Bay & the net stopped all that. I even buy my C.A from o/s

Suggested retail on the M5 was $99.99 USD! Street was around $70, so I would say a nice deal you got!
