Ok I am painting the body for my aftermarket graphite. I decided to go with a blackwidow theme since the chassis is black and all the plastic is cherry red. I have masked off the body and hand cut the pinstripe web for it out of masking tape. I wanted a inconsistant thickness to the webbing. Now I am really worried about bleed through when I spray the black on. I have never painted something with this thin of stripes it probably varies between 1/8th inch to less than 3/8 inch. I didn't measure them so I am guessing. Is there a really good way to prevent bleed through? This paint job could look amazing if I get it right but so sad if I mess it up. Also if I get bleed though can I use some kind of solvent to clear it up? I haven't painted a more than one color body in years. Sorry for the rambling

First let me say I'm not a paint expert but I've had some good results recently.

To prevent bleed through, I've never had great luck with paper masking tape. Making sure both edges are a fresh cut (not the original tape edge) and firmly pressed to the body helps, but sometimes not enough. Vinyl mask usually results in cleaner lines, but watch any overlapping lines to make sure you minimize the gap of one going on top of the other. The best results I've had recently is with liquid mask. It takes a few coats to get a workable thickness, and then a steady hand and a brand new xacto blade to cut a negative of the main color on the body. Usually you're better off painting darkest to lightest so I'm not sure how that works with your colors.

Best way to do pinstripes is with a pinstriping brush and 1-Shot......
Pinstriping done with masking tape doesn't look like "striping" at all.....
But then I'm biased......

I believe it is special pin striping paint with the product name one shot.

Its been around for ages, enamal sign painters/stripers paint. Sticks to just about anything, flows well and is cheap. House of Kolors also has their line but the most popular is One Shot.

Anyone ever try a paint stick ?

I'd go for vinyl cut out to correct width with scalpel / metal ruler and applied to the reverse everytime...
Trick is to rub it down really hard and leave 2 hours to prevent bleed-under (adhesive takes atleast a few hours to cure) before applying your paint...
