Re: -Yokomo YZ-10 "World Champion Special"-
Hey Asso_man,
Great, great job on restoring your Yokomo. It came up real nice. The rims on your model were used exclusively on the 1994 YZ10 and the 1996 YZ10 Worlds Car. Most kits came with the black versions but some (mine included) came with white versions.
Can't wait to see your model complete with body and tires (will you be painting the body or leaving it clear?)
Again, very nice work

Re: -Yokomo YZ-10 "World Champion Special"-
Thanks for the compliments mate, it was an easy resto as the car only had very few runs in it. Do you own the exact same car? Positive or not, post some pics!
PS: I think I'll leave the body clear, I don't want to risk messing up with it and that way I'll be able to watch at all those yummy gaphite parts without taking off the body

Re: -Yokomo YZ-10 "World Champion Special"-
Dual has just sent me a PM and now I'm a bit confused about the true name of this model. I received the instruction manual with the car and it came with a separate leaflet for the AE teflon coated shocks (we all know that one parrot fashionly) AND another one that clearly states "YZ-10 World Champion Special" (see scanned doc below). Now, according to Dual, this is a "Mark Pavidis Edition" aka "World's Car" that came after the first said one.
As I don't have the box and never saw one for this Yokie, I really have no clue. Anyone?

Re: -Yokomo YZ-10 "World Champion Special"-
As it's fitted with Associated shocks it's a Mark Pavidis Edition. The YZ-10 World Champion is fitted with Yokomos own shocks. But then it has the World Champion bodyshell

David, if you ever EVER decide to sell, please keep me in mind.
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

Whatever name it goes by, cool car I'd like to drive very much.
To add to your confusion: inthe TC link for the pavidis car Isse a sliiper clutch which according to the description was standard included.
I don't see it on yours though...

Re: -Yokomo YZ-10 "World Champion Special"-
Hi everyone,
This particular Yokomo was sold under a few names (depending on what magazine you read, what the guy at the hobby shop called it etc.) but David is correct in saying that it is the World Champion Special. Other names that were given to the car were 'Mark Pavidis Edition (this as well as World Champion Special was also written on the box)', 'Worlds Car' and even 'Worlds Specification'. This model did not include a slipper clutch (it did include a one-way pulley and gear adapter) contrary to what the description on the Tamiyaclub version says and the body shell that came with this kit was of the 'squashed bug' variety that was very, very thin and had a larger cooling scoop (compared to the 1994 YZ10 version shell). Also, this model came standard with Team Associated's excellent Team Shocks.

Re: -Yokomo YZ-10 "World Champion Special"-
No more confusion on this one guys, it's definitely called as the title of the thread states, confusion came from Dual who misread it as "World Championship Special", which refers to the previous edition. And when I compared mine with the one in the TC linky, I feel VERY happy with mine (even though mine has some wrong srews).
Jay, I'll do bear you in mind if I ever sell it, I guess that should be taken as a compliment
Ed, according to my manual, the "Pavidis Edition" originally came with an AE white spur gear and a central one-way, no slipper clutch and the one on TC definitely has a Losi slipper conversion

Re: -Yokomo YZ-10 "World Champion Special"-
Losi I already thought that slipper clutch looked very different from the ones I found on both YR4's I bought 2nd-hand.
Now, after all this teasing, when will you let me try it?

Do you have decals for your body and all those sort of things to finish it?

Re: -Yokomo YZ-10 "World Champion Special"-
Only bits an bobs missing now are original decals and a set of tires. I could also use a new undertray, but that would be a too long and expensive quest I guess. I would also like to find some cool period correct titanium turnbuckles...Dr. Robotnik wrote:Do you have decals for your body and all those sort of things to finish it?
