Vintage racing questions

I would like to get into vintage racing. I have 2 cars I am planning on using. For on road I want to use my corally sp10g and for buggy I want to use my rc10 with aftermarket graphite.

My questions are
Do you have to run exact period correct electronics and motor?
Does the paint job need to be box art or a replica of a racer from vintage times or can the body be painted what ever I want?
Does the car have to be running factory parts/chassis or can it run vintage aftermarket parts like my rc10 widow buggy?
Also in general how old would vintage be considerd?

I know that diffrent places have diffrent rules I would just like some general idea so I can race the cars with other vintage cars.

Well, I guess it depends on the rules where you will be running.

Generally speaking electronics are usually open.

Paint it whatever you want.

Aftermarket parts of the same time period are OK. They may even allow modern upgrades as well but that would depend on the specific club and how sticky they are about that.

I think vintage ended with the Losi XX, 1993ish. The Losi XX is considered by some to be vintage as well but it was the swan song of the graphite plate/alloy tub cars and is closer in design to the XXX than the Pro-SE.

But that is just my opinion.

for the vintage offroad nationals (vonats) that's held here in ct in septmeber the rules are as follows:

vintage racers:
car/truck must be from 1994 or earlier, xx squeaks in here.
modern wheels and tires allowed
17.5 brushless or 27 turn brushed
2s lipo allowed or 6 cell nicad/nimh

classics class (entry level cars or 100% stock first gen racers)
entry level cars allowed modern wheels and tires, first gen racers must be on box stock wheels and tires.
hand out motor (tamiya sport tuned black can motors were handed out the past couple of years)
i didn't run classics so i don't know if they ran lipo or not.
classics is also the only mixed class with both 2wd and 4wd.

Thank you for the info. By what y'all say I can run both my rc10 for off road and my corally sp10 for onroad. The main one I want to run is the rc10 with the after market graphite chassis. If the chassis does not qualify I will just put everything on my actual rc10 graphite chassis. I wish they run vintage class cars at the local tracks here in tx but I know they do back home in S.C.

lol oh you mean like "Can they really fit 1700mah into a cell these days?" or "theres something softer than HT?" or "do 2 shocks on the front really work better than my mono-shock setup?" or "My pink wheels will always be cool!"
