rc10 worlds

So I was going through my garage about a month ago doing a bit of a clean and came across my old rc's. I have an rc10 worlds with a blue tub and a Losi XX but the rc10 unfortunately has a broken front shock tower. I have been looking around for the last couple weeks for one and have been coming up with blanks until I went to my local hobby shop and was informed of this website. After browsing I am blown away at the love for the older rc's. But it brought some questions to mind that I have not found answers to. Now, I have been brought up to date on brushless, 2.4, lipo and the longer race times ( I used to race 4 mins a back in the day ) and my questions are pretty simple.

1. Does anybody still use FM specific frequency tx (you know, with the old peg board) or is it strictly 2.4? And if I bring my old stuff to the track am I going to get laughed out the gate?

2. Can someone point me in the direction of a front shock tower? I can only find dead links or sold outs.

3. And lastly, how much...just kidding, I read the rules and that's not what I'm interested in anyways.

Here's a couple pics of the cars...

The rc10 has a Futaba fp 102 rec, Tekin TSC 411 P, and Futaba HS servo running brushed 10S with a Futaba Magnum
The XX has a Novak NER 3 rec, Tekin TSC 411 P2, and a KO FET servo running brushed 13D with a KO EX-1

And yes I have the rest of the front end, I was just trying to make a tower my self out of some aircraft aluminum that I ruined cause I'm a genius.

K, apparently photobucket works way better than flickr.

That's cool! I went and picked up a cheap battery to muck around out int the yard and I think I'll go grab a couple 7 cells and hit the track. Do most who run nimh use 6, 7 or 8 cell?

Cheap NiMH packs are ok, any real racing now is Brushless/Lipo though-

nice looking rc10 and losi. on your rc10, are those standard associated body post holding down the battery strap? or are they yokomo battery post?

I'm fairly certain the SC will handle the lipo's, I'm just not sure I want to invest in a new charger and the packs themselves. And I don't think I want to go brushless just yet either. Both those cars are quite fast and handle exceptionally well. I'm not planning on entering big races, just interested in a little competition.

Also checked out the Tower Hobbies website and found nothing. I'll give them a call in the morning as they probably don't have it listed. Thanks for the help!

Can't recall the company but they came with the strap. I bought them at the track that used to be on Eddystone in Toronto.

When you do a search at tower hobbies, you have to get unique with what you are looking for. In this case the search would be "Associated Shock Strut"... For front a-arms, you can do "Wide Track".... There are some things that come up when you just type in "RC10" but you will have to sort through everything to find what you are looking for. Hope this helps.

Shock Strut:

Front A-Arms:

If you have a Hobbytown in your area, you could also try going there. A lot of times they will carry those parts and sometimes you will find stuff that is hard to find there as well.
